A long time ago, I made a default moon replacement that was a fictional planet instead of something more moon-looking. It was one of the first things I made for TS3, and I had no idea what I was doing...and it shows. LOL I've been wanting to freshen it up a bit for a long time now, and I finally got around to doing it, so I thought I'd share the updated version.
This is the same planet, but the colors are highly desaturated, the planet now looks more spherical because I added more shading to its edges, and I "filled in" what looked like a gaping hole in its side. LOL Here are some more pics of various phases:
None of the pics on this post have any Reshade applied because I don't use it in my game, though there is a lighting mod in use, specifically my own. The title pic has a bit of Photoshop, but only to add lettering and a subtle dark border around the edge of the image. So, basically what you see is what you get.
That said, the moon is greatly enlarged in the images (via the lighting mod, to a radius of 600) in order to show more detail. If you haven't made the moon larger in your game, then it will appear as the tiny default size in your game, which honestly doesn't look as good.
Also, the lighting mod in play adds a glow and a halo to the full moon, which you can see in the title pic. So, if your game isn't using a moon halo, then the full moon won't be glowy like it is in the title picture. It will look like the other pics, just in full phase.
Anyway, it's a niche thing, but if you like it and have a use for it, you can download the replacement HERE.
