New computer case! Some of the cables couldn’t be totally stored in the back cause they had to reach a ways, but otherwise the cable management’s a lot better than it was in my old case. The glass side panel is absolutely gorgeous, I love being able to see all of the computer guts illuminated by the beautiful blue LED fans, which are a lot quieter than my old case fans as well. Overall this is a very nice case. I just need to get a few more fans for the top so I can equalize the airflow.
RAM and SSD prices are spiking as AI and data centers eat up global memory supply — and Crucial is leaving the consumer market. Daniel dug into why this feels personal to PC builders. #PCgaming #PCMR #hardware #RAM #SSD #AI
I miss being able to sit and do a thing until it is done. I keep having to take breaks to put my feet up and rest my arms.
But the case fans, power supply, blu ray drive and hard drive cage are all correctly installed in the case (not wired yet), the extra cage is removed, and my next step is to install the mobo standoffs, which requires standing and which I may well have to draft someone else in the family to do. We'll see how I am in an hour or three.
The case fans were finicky and really annoying because the case came with two white fans, and I bought two black fans, and was going to either have two black fans or two white fans in front and one of the other color on each of the back and the bottom. HOWEVER, the case came with ONE set of short screws suitable for back and bottom, and two sets of long front screws. The fans came with install pegs... which are not flat enough to go on the bottom. I couldn't install the white fans in the back AND bottom because not enough of the right, odd screws. So now the front has one black and one white and the bottom has a white with the flat short screws and the back has a black one and I won't see it in day to day because the front panel will obscure them but I KNOW THEY ARE THERE and it bothers me. I may well email the case manufacturer and say, "Dude, you sent eight power supply screws but zero extra short fan screws."
They are not interchangeable. This felt like a missionaries and cannibals problem. (And do we have a less obnoxious, less colonizer name for that puzzle?)
To make up for this headache, the optical drive aligned with EIGHT screw holes and I completely unnecessarily put ALL EIGHT screws in the aligned screw holes and now if I ever somehow need to secure something in the bay below it, I will KNOW where the extra screws are.
DIY - PCB Christmas Forest -------------------- Created a small "PCB Christmas Forest" which is going to light up my study table this Christmas. In this video, I am going to show you guys how to design these PCBs and assemble them to create a small PCB Christmas Forest.

In this video I talk a bit about my dad's PC that I built for him about 1.5 years ago. It's definitely a budget build, but is perfect for his typical needs of web browsing and some MS Office work. I also swap out the PSU that originally came included with the case for a Corsair CX430.

Many gamers are really into it when it comes to building their ultimate gaming machine. Of course they knew what to latch where or how much is enough. But sometimes it really pays to have an easier way to do things right, and probably better. And ASUS sure showed that it can be done. During the Computex 2016, the company presented ROG Avalon, their first step towards a vision for the future of…
