This Duncan Phyfe lyre chair was gifted to me - Thank you Katie @hazeltownhome! And while it was cute already, I wanted a different look for it. Part of painting furniture (for me anyway) is playing with color and fabric I have "ReClaimed" I used Mermaid Tail by #dixiebellepaint and I'm almost out of my favorite Paris fabric that was a cloth shower curtain. Finished my furniture makeover. I used Dixie Belle chalk paints and Redesign transfers plus an assortment of waxes, clear coat finish, and Gator Hide on our old wooden lateral file cabinet. The transfers are on the front drawers and I used layers of paint and colored waxes on the side panels to complement the front. Some of the wax is gilding wax so it looks different depending upon the light and viewing angle. I bought a 1970s Lane fliptop bar earlier this year. You can see its original wood color but not the design...a black silhouette of George Washington crossing the Delaware! I so wish I took a before picture but alas I did not. I used Dixie Belle chalk paint and Re-Design transfers for its makeover. It's my first big piece and first time using transfers.
