             she  doesn’t  mark  time  for  an  invitation  before  sliding  into  the  booth  across  from  him         —          hollering  to  the  nearest  server  in  great,  fervent  haste  .          “        fries  .  stat  .  it’s  on  the  tall  guy  !          ”             she  calls,  making  herself  comfortable  in  her  seat  on  his  behalf,  kicking  her  battered  and  dirtied  boots  up  on  the  table  .            “           don’t  make  a  scene  . . .         ”          the  demon  purrs,  grinning  .          “         it’s  unbecoming,  and  i  think  i’ve  proven  that  i  have  no  intention  of  harming  you  .  unless  that’s  what  you’re  into,  of  course  .          ”       

“Oh,” he tugged on his door’s handle as he tried to open it, “you got to be kidding me,” he groaned before turning around and sliding down it. He was only in a pair of sleeping pants and was locked out of his house. This was great, right? Sighing, he ran a hand through his hair before getting up and deciding to find someone nearby to help him. Seeing someone, he jogged up to them. “Hey, so, long story but I locked myself out of my place. Do you by any chance have a bobby pin?”

            there’s  no  reason  the  girl  from  peoria  should  be  12  hours  on  the  road  because  of  a  feeling  .  but  flashes  of  her  most  recent  nightmare  greet  her  as  she  drives  past  the  bon  temps  sign           —          adrenaline  and  urgent  fear  forcing  her  to  continue  her  trip  despite  her  exhausted  state  .  she  doesn’t  even  need  a  map  to  direct  her             —           a  familiar  tree,  or  bend  in  the  road  enough  to  lead  her  to  the  motel  housing  the  stranger  from  her  dreams  .  she  must  look  insane            —            bugged  out  and  sullied  from  hours  panicked  and  speeding  on  the  road  .  but  she  doesn’t  have  time  to  clean  up           —            to  be  convenient  .  to  mark  more  time  .  rehearse  and  explanation  .  she  has  to  help  him  .  so  she  ignores  the  stinging  pain  in  her  fast  asleep  legs  as  she  leaps  out  of  her  car  and  the  neighbours  and  the  time  of  night  as  she  bangs  on  the  motel  door           —            bargaining  on  the  suite  number  being  the  same  as  the  one  in  her  nightmare  .  if  it’s  not            —            he’s  as  good  as  dead  . 

          ever  since  grams  introduced  her  to  the  bennett’s  unusual  lineage,  bonnie’s  been  stubborn  in  her  resolve  to  ignore  it  .  chalk  it  up  to  some  strange  fiction  .  ignore  he  push  and  pull  towards  this  strange,  unfamiliar           (           but  almost  comforting           )          force  that’s  all  of  the  sudden  appeared  in  her  life  .  the  more  she  tries  to  ignore  it,  though,  the  more  it  seems  to  interrupt  her  life  .  the  louder  it  gets  .  she  can  feel  him  before  she  sees  it          —         a  pulsating  force  that  beckons  to  her  .  sings  to  her  .  she’d  like  to  turn  a  deaf  ear  to  it,  but  it  just  gets  louder  and  louder          —        dragging  her  closer  and  closer  until  she’s  followed  him  down  to  the  cellar  .  it’s  almost  like  she  has  no  control  over  herself  .  bonnie  clears  her  throat,  making  her  presence  known  .          “           am  i  insane  . . .          ”           she  starts,  almost  hoping  for  it  .            “          or  did  that  person  pass  out  just  in  time  for  you  to  come  down  here  and  steal  that  vintage  merlot  ?           ”

          jo’s  furious  .  she’s  covered  in  someone’s         (            could  be  her  own,  could  be  someone  else’s  .  a  mix,  perhaps           —             )          blood  and  she’s  enraged  .  she’s  also  embarrassed  .  grateful  .  burning  red  as  she  storms  out  of  the  abandoned  motel  her  research  brought  her  to  .  her  research           —          she’d  insist  and  scream  .  she  should  be  relishing  the  success  of  this  mission         —          it  should  be  her  success  .  but  she  seethes  instead,  angered  that  he  felt  the  need  to  save  her  life  .          “          i  had  it  .          ”            she  insists,  turning  on  her  heels  to  face  him  .  face  defiant  and  hurt  and  ashamed  .  the  truth  is,  she  didn’t  have  it  .  if  he  hadn’t  appeared,  jumped  in,  she’d  be  dead  .  but  she  can’t  help  but  ruminate  on  her  failure  .  she  needed  this  .  she  needed  to  prove  to  her  mom         —          to  him           —          to  dean           —          and  herself  that  she’s  capable  of  this  kind  of  life  .  that  she’s  her  father’s  daughter  .  but  he’s  dead  too  .           “         mom  sent  you,  didn’t  she  ?  she  doesn’t  trust  me  .          ”         she  kicks  the  dirt,  frustrated  .            “           but  i  had  it,  sam  .          ”
