Oh my its has been awhile since I did a film review... seeing that its 2013, I might as well start off fresh with one of the first big movies of the year! Gangster Squad, Starring Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Sean Penn, and directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, 30 Minutes or Less)

Where do I start first with this film? Instead of the notion that I loved this film. Ryan Gosling is simply phenomenal in this film, where even I was swooned over his charm. He nailed the accent and everything down to the bone, he was genuinely one of the best parts of this movie. On an even brighter note, Sean Penn's portrayal of Mickey Cohen (some would disagree) was, how should I put it in.. (way of words of @breeahhknee bursts during the film) "Oscar nominated". Josh Brolin played a bad ass homicide detective that can't be bought and fought organized crime to the brink of expansion. Emma Stone was simply to die for! and the romantic link between he and Gosling was electric to the point where it fell apart and I didn't really care for at the end, but overall good chemistry those two rekindled from Crazy Stupid Love. The cinematography of the film was outstanding especially for a 1950s setting, Fleischer used some of his elements in his first film and incorporated it into Gangster Squad and it meshed well together even though it they're two different eras. The scenes leading up to the gangster squad was well done and humorous at some parts which really added flavor. This movie was really well done even after some mishaps that the film has endured. Originally Gangster Squad was suppose to come out in September of 2012 but a scene in the movie was cut and had to be re-shot because of the Aurora Shootings in July. After seeing the movie and watching the scene that replaced the original scene, it was pretty enjoyable and I don't think it would've mattered now. Hopefully, they could probably add the scene in like a directors cut version of the film.

The other things about this film that made it even greater is the supporting cast. Robert Patrick the T-1000, Anthony Mackie (THIS GUY NEEDS MORE ROLES!!! HE'S A STAR!!!), Michael FUCKIN Pena, and (The man, the myth, the legend) Giovanni Ribisi, even Nick Nolte for crying out loud! what a cast! These guys were amazing in the film! Even the fucking guy who played Issac in fuckin BARBERSHOP made an appearance... good lord hahah (Troy Garity, check out Sunshine! He's actually a decent actor, that is if you can get over the fact that he was a white man in a black barbershop) Overall these guys made the film, the epic battles and wisecrack scenes these guys had together made the film whole (had to or else there be no squad right? lol)

The things I didn't like about the movie were tidbits, some parts were just either not enough impact, done too fast, and some part was like WTF? but over all the acting, the cinematography, The 1950s, A time period I wish to visit and Gangster Squad creates that perfect vision of it. The style, the cars, the limelight. All that jazz made the film epic. Also The superb acting of Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, and Sean Penn is worth (how ever much you pay to watch a movie) it lol.

I give Gangster Squad a 8.5/10

I watch only 2 movies this week... sad to say but im running out of time and theres like less than two weeks left haha... I also added a movie that i forgot to add. I watch Half Nelson and Certified Copy both really great films... movies i hope to watch this week Blue Valentine, Into The Wild, Adjustment Bureal, Big Fish, Road to Perdition, Brothers Bloom, and hopefully Fantastic Mr. Fox by this week

Dec 16, 24, and 30 - Watch the 49ers games at my friend Bill's house with Rob and Justin Dec 26 - Django Unchained!

8: What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Surviving two semesters of school... and a 8 page research paper!!! omfg the first big paper i ever done

Being bad with money

10: Did you suffer illness or injury?

My toe had an infection all year and i didnt get it looked at until nov because of no insurance... toe feels great... I was sick for 2 week at the end of December... still sick now

11: What was the best thing you bought?

shit... idk... I would probably say Diablo 3... and maybe Red Dead Redemption because ive been trying to buy it for months and it finally when on a reasonable price haha

Chris graduated from the program we attended and which i was kicked out for... proudest moment of that goon... Also Jason and Liz graduated together... my favorite couple!

my own.... i was a douche last year

stupid shit... it needed to go to good things but i was greedy as always... Lots of food and transportation...
