An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
The last chapter is posted! It will be so weird not posting anymore for this story.
Chapters: 30/30 Fandom: Star Trek, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: The Original Series
The year is 1995. Elim Garak has crossed some people on the new government, so he's sent to "survey" a backward planet, Earth, that's being ripped apart by a worldwide war. As his ship crashes and finds himself stranded and without a fully functional translator, he meets a young doctor, hiding from the army. Soon, they discover there's no safe place for them on the planet. But what about above? And what are Khan's plans for them?
And something is very, very wrong with the timeline.
Divergence is an editorial work we created for our graduation project. We printed 30 copies, each one of them is completely unique. The purpose of our essay is to fight against the gender stereotypes and norms, in order to highlight divergences. We believe that gender stereotypes are limitations to a healthy development of a child’s identity.
Our editorial concept is based on a subtle balance between singularity and plurality. Promoting individuality, each of the 30 essays is printed in a unique way: a wide range of colored papers was randomly organized in the printing machine. The cover is black and designless while inside, a complex and colorful editorial is revealed once you open the book. Throughout this concept, we wished to represent the complexity of a children’s identity. They are more than just one color, more than pink or blue, more than all the stereotypes most of the people believe in.
