she’s eighteen, almost an adult when a man with a business card approaches her on a summer afternoon she had spent busking in the park near her home. he offers her an opportunity to escape the chaos of her home, the unsure future plans due to a lack of proper funding for her to pursue university, an opportunity for her to be a star instead of a nobody struggling to keep her family running and lixue hesitates to accept. she’s never pictured herself as an idol, as someone people feel attracted to, someone people want to be or want to be with. her mother insists she should do it though, her younger sister urges that if lixue doesn’t take the opportunity she’ll never talk to her again and it’s that that convinces wen lixue to move from china to korea.

moving to seoul all by herself while speaking close to no korean was... a definite a struggle. there were some bumps along the way, but she managed to connect with the other trainees regardless of the language barrier. as expected, the biggest obstacle proved to be dancing as lixue had never danced before in her life.

at twenty four she debuts in distich as one of the leaders and as one of the oldest members, she finds a pressing responsibility resting on her shoulders, the need to have it all together for her group in the same way she would do for her siblings, to be a reliant and comforting presence even if that means to erase her own problems and being on the wrong side with new age's ceo, it isn’t easy.

Youngki never thought he’d end up being an idol. Hell, he even kind of despised the music industry, seeing everyone as sell outs and phonies– people lipsynching for their 15 minutes of fame and a pile of cash. He was openly opposed to it, so much so that whenever the topic came up, his friends would all groan– they knew they were in for a lecture. That they’d have to listen to him rant about how bogus it all was.

He was dared to audition when he was fifteen, and between not wanting to back down from the dare and wanting to shut his friends up, Donghyun auditioned for Radioactive Entertanment. To his, and everyone else’s, surprise, he got in. His friends begged and plead for him to go through with it, all of them pointing out how funny it would be and how he could get the inside scoop, so he did it. He wasn’t going to half ass it either. He was going to show how far a little effort could go, wanting to show off all the attention whores parading as idols.

Once he started training, he realized just how hard it really was. He’d never admit it to his friends back home, but he kind of found a love for performing, and put his entire heart and soul into getting better. He really fell in love with is craft with rap specifically, and when there were rumors of Radioactive folding, he started auditioning elsewhere. This time, it wasn’t for a dare. He genuinely wanted to follow this through. And finally, New Age took him in. And as he matured, he became one of the lead trainees at New Age, bursting with potential, but a friendly figure that other trainees knew they could come to for help.

Jeo Sehwan has always lived a life maybe would envy-- he and his younger sister were both incredibly musically inclined, and their parents were incredibly supportive. Sehwan and Seyeon’s dreams of being entertainers were always something that seemed achievable. And he was fortunate to have parents so supportive; In school, Sehwan was unremarkable-- the only thing that set him apart was his voice.

He hadn’t always wanted to be an idol. First he was very intent on making Seyeon’s dream of them becoming the Korean Jonas brothers a reality. It just seemed like the best gig-- both of them got to live out their dreams, and they got to do it together. He stayed up late thinking about band names and costumes and song ideas.

When they were old enough, Seyeon and Sehwan auditioned at Higher Records together. Sehwan as a little crestfallen when he succeeded and Seyeon didn’t, but sure enough, after a few more rounds of auditioning, she was right next to him.

Sehwan was an optimistic Higher Records trainee. He trained diligently for three years, from sixteen to nineteen, and watched as all the friends he made from school and the trainee world debuted and he hadn’t. Granted they weren’t in a company as prestigious as he was in, but he felt with each day as he got older his value as a trainee diminished. He hadn’t ever once thought of moving to another company, instead working hard to make the higher ups in the company notice him.

An offer from New Age Media changed all of that. With 2019 on the horizon and with that his fourth year of training, Sehwan became antsy for a debut. He didn’t care in what sense, either; he could be one of those unfortunate idols pushed to the edge in all choreographies and he’d be happy. When a casting director from New Age stumbled across him in the heart of Seoul and invited him to an audition, Sehwan bit the bullet. And after that? And before he even blinked, he was the main vocalist of Distich.

Aidan was born to one of the largest clothing retail CEO’s in the USA along with his model of a wife. From the moment she was born, there was not a thing she could want and her father made sure of it. The last toys and gadgets were thrown at her from the moment she could walk. Whatever she pouted her lip at, Aidan got.

Whatever her latest obsessions were, her father made sure to get anything for her little princess no matter how quickly she grew out of them. The only thing that stayed consistent is her love for a KPOP group that came after visiting her relatives in Korea. “They are perfect,” was all Aidan could say when she was introduced to Juliette and shortly after TRAXX.

What was just another one of her obsessions to some became a passion. Her father expected her to only touch the surface of dance and vocal lessons, but he never expect her to mean it when she said that she wanted to become an idol, to perform. The dancing is what Aidan took to the most. She pushed the hardest to become the best in her class. How serious she took it was when she went to visit her family overseas again and insisted on trying out the Spotlight auditions.

With a lot of pride, Aidan made it through the first round when she was 16. She pushed just as hard to be a star trainee and listened to just about whatever they wanted for her to do. In 2016, she was considered as one of the potential members of Venus, but a meeting was held with her and various different staff members and trainers. They were going to debut her unless she was willing to diet and lose weight. Aidan had maintained the diet the company had given her and danced off most of the calories she took in. It wasn’t her fault where she kept her fat. Aidan knew she was pretty, she knew she was talented, why waste her time with a company who couldn’t see that.

So, she left and became a free agent for a short period of time. She auditioned here and there for new companies, trying to find one that felt like they could be her new home and give her the opportunity to be an idol. In early 2018, she found her way into New Age as a dance trainee. With enough vocalist being trained, the pushed her to try rap. No questioning, the same tenacity she had for other aspects of idol training was present when Aidan was learning how to rap. Anything needed in order to earn her dream.

About: Duri comes from a big family (she’s the third out of five kids), so debuting amongst a large group was always going to be a natural fit for her – she’s the sort who thrives amongst people.

She also felt like she was pretty much made to be a performer, admiring the work of her trot singer mother while growing up. And while she loved it, Mindeulle herself was drawn to the spectacle of idol music, not unlike her siblings.

She was in dance classes from a young age, always a stand-out student because of her boundless energy. It was after coming out of one such class that she was actually scouted by New Age, which her parents (but especially her mother) encouraged her to go through with, so she immediately moved from Busan to Seoul to get started.
