Been trying to design Grand Highblood Makara for a while that I forgot his face paint, but that'll come later.
I'm getting somewhere but not exactly sure where. It'd be nice to have some feedback maybe? I now want to add decorative skulls hung by his weird belt thing like how I did with some previous concepts.
But anyways, the main idea is Centuries Old Tyrannical Clown Warlord & Pope-King thing.
I do wish some people tried to explore their own styles more in mspfas. There are way too many instances where it felt off-putting to see a character in a kid sprite having facial hair or is supposed to represent an older adult.😭
Generally though, fan adventures just kinda felt same-y visual wise because there really isn't much diversity within the designs and trying to just mimic Andrew Hussie entirely. There isn't anything inherently bad about that, but it would be nice to break the mold sometimes.
In the comic that me and @carnivalworm are working on, we have the characters become significantly taller and have adult sprites. 👀
The idea is that by the time a character surpasses being 19 and turns 20 , they'd have this fuckass Super Mario mushroom sequence into them turning into a more representative depiction of themselves that reflects their age. How awesome would that be?

Concept sketches for Distant Timelines Grand Highblood.
I wanted him to be more ogre-like unlike my more general design, who is a lot more Warcraft troll hunter. I'll expand more on this design when I can.
Kurloz is there for comparison to his facial features. Not sure if it translates very well that GHB is him but oooooold old.
The last sketch is closer to the vision I've been having in my head. However he kinda looks too much like a shaman which I am not exactly fond of? I want him to look more like a ruthless warrior-overlord back in ye 'ole days but is now retired, although still all the more terrifying and has a lot of power over others. I'll have to explore more on that, alongside his priest outfit.
He wears the skulls of the trolls that he defeated in battle and had failed to entertain him as a necklace.
The papal ferula is a work in progress. I think it's obvious as to what it represents.
That's all I'll talk about. It'd be nice to have some feedback.

Idk how to draw old crusty men yet. I rlly wish to not make him look too appealing since he's not somebody to be desired over, he's a genuinely disgusting monster. Reasons will be revealed in time...
I'll explore more faces for him and maybe add more wrinkles, not only for his face but everywhere on his body??
