Splatbands fandom remember me 🥹 I haven't drawn these idiots in a while sorry :[
I always get motivation to draw when the timing is completely inappropriate.. grrr.. on that here's my obligatory small ramble that comes with the pre-exam draw: (My) Warabi's shirt is based on a skeleton pattern smocking technique; when it comes to thinking about what Warabi wears I always try to consider the high social class he is a part of so I imagine he wears much more band-name, designer clothes because he was born into that wealth: its something he's grown up with and is very used to. With that said I definitely wouldn't ignore his fashion tastes in the Diss-Pair album art, since it doesn't seem like he'd be the type to only wear "big name designer brands". I think he's disconnected from the affluent lives his parents live, and his clothes are only a fraction of the way he expresses that. In contrast -as everything is with Diss-Pair- Ikkan represents the polar opposite by wearing something much simpler: a suit, and a button up. Just how everything about diss-pair is completely opposite to one another, Warabi grew up in a high social class, and Ikkan grew up in a low social class, and their clothes are the most direct byproduct of that difference. And this topic can branch out into so many different other aspects such as.... - Despite being born into wealth, Warabi still experienced the world as an (in my hcs, half-octarian) octoling. How has he had to integrate into an inkling world? - Warabi and Ikkan are both from different social statuses; how has that further divided mutual understanding between the worldviews they were raised with? But thats.. a ramble for another time.. sniffle... I'll just get more embarrassed thinking abt this more. I always try to have a deep interpretation of Diss-Pair when it comes to my own since I think the fact they're so polar represents the world they were shaped in beautifully. Isn't Diss-Pair beautiful. I wasn't thinking that deeply when I made this anyway.. coughs.. But Diss-Pair is always deserving of some thinking one way or another.
