Gus lifted a brow, and an almost comical expression glinted upon his expression for only a moment. He has the ears and the uniform to match.
“That's quite the costume.”

sighing heavily, Jim continued to stare at the pages in front of him as if willing them to be absorbed by his brain. though he was pretty sure learning didn't work that way, he was willing to give it a shot. this was the only thing he had to study tonight anyways so it shouldn't be that hard. except it actually was.
the fighting techniques and the mechanics of the jaegers were easy enough but when it came to trying to navigate with someone else beside you - in your head - that's when things got complicated.
besides, everyone - teachers and students - expected Jim to just know everything just because his father was George Kirk, one of the best pilots the world had ever seen. he had died the day he was born, so now Jim was stuck living in the shadow of a dead man. all he ever wanted to do was make his mother proud though that was hard in itself. she was too busy grieving over Sam, his brother, whom had run away from home at the age of twelve. not that he didn't care, but he was more than angry with Sam for leaving him alone to deal with their step-father, Frank.
so it only seemed logical that at the ripe age of eighteen, he would enlist in the academy to become a pilot. the only thing is, while he was at the top of his class, no one really seemed to enjoy his company that much unless they were drunk and or having sex with him. this made the prospect of finding a co-pilot extremely daunting.
out of the corner of his eye, the young man caught a flash of movement and before he could say anything else, another man sat across from him. Jim was sure that he had seen him before, the silky black bowlcut was an eyecatcher.
❝ whatcha studying? ❞
perhaps it would be best to act nice.

He was on the run. Khan'd escaped before t h e y even knew what was happening, slipped right out from under their noses! Had to be careful, he knew, or it'd be a surefire way to get sent back into stasis. Escaping, that was the easy part -- simply broke out of those flimsy little things they called handcuffs and incapacitated his captors before they could even call out for help. Remaining undetected and getting to where he needed to go -- that was the d i f f i c u l t part. Especially when he'd, inadvertently, caught the eyes of a certain half-Vulcan he hadn't quite expected to see. Before any distance could be closed between them, the augment whirled and immediately took off in the other direction. This was not how he wanted to do this.
❝ Hope you're not expecting a tour. ❞
