Okay, but have we put some genuine thought into the notion of Dispatch getting sequel?
Do NOT get me wrong, I love the idea of a. Sequel to this AMAZING game as much as the last 10 people. However, this game has some really difficult challenges if they indeed want to get a sequel.
Let’s go through something that I think might be the reason why the creators of Dispatch are hesitant on even planning on making a sequel to this game.
1) the endings.
We all know that Dispatch has two main endings, and I think that’s the biggest issue that Dispatch is dealing with.
One ending is you end a big world organization, and defeat the whole problem and everyone is happy, AKA: you ONLY Defeat Shroud.
The other is an implementation of the continuation of the organization, like it’s being passed onto a different mantle. AKA: Visi being the one to step in, at least from what I’ve seen.
It’s difficult to make a continuation based on both of those points, cause it’s a point system that based on players CHOICES for how the player involves with Visi (which was so stupid, but more on that later). And you can’t really choose between either of the endings, because it contradicts the other ending. Which would be pointless of having a two different ending.
The only way I could maybe see this being going around is by the sequel maybe not showing/mentioning Visi nearly at all, which would be incredibly difficult because of her being a love interest option. Like, you romanced her and got the happy ending, yet you never hear/see her in the second game doesn’t seem fair.
There is a possibility that they could make two games with only Visi being present based on actions you chose? Which, I HIGHLY doubt it would be possible. Becuase of, again, Visi being a BIG issue in one of the endings. As well as cost and expense, the first game was indeed amazing. But it was made by an Indie team that was talented enough to only really use certain models, and backgrounds that regular players wouldn’t blink at. (If you want to know what I mean let me know!)
2) the most problematic character
I don’t mean to really sound harsh, but there has been some major backlash on the ending being based on Visi. As well as some very obvious favoritism towards her in the entire gameplay, it’s almost like it’s pushing you to be specially towards her.
I personally found a lot of her behavior disturbing and frustrating, she acted like an immature teen who just got hormones and wants to experiment with it. And a lot of what she does is absolutely disgusting and disrespectful towards Robert. Like wtf is wrong with forcing herself in Robert, through makeout sessions, forced romantic advances, and just through regular dialogue. Like, she takes advantage of her power to stalk/assult Robert at any given moment. Ex: we see her do the exact hand movements and dialogue with Blazer in the bathroom. We see her watch Robert get undress infront of her, proven by Robert placing his shirt ontop of the seat he was standing next to.)
I hate to be the person, but if it was a man doing this to a women - the dude would be arrested and humiliated, and would never be seen or heard of in the entire game.
Maybe that’s something that could be explained on why she behaves like that, but there is nothing on here? And yet we’re supposed to save a girl who we know nothing about, as well as one that completely tries to self sabotage herself. To an almost frustrating degree.
And why does this 28 YEAR OLD women’s mental state depend on the players’s choice? She had an options on she handled situations, and yet WE have to be the ones to say the proper dialogue, proper missions for us to save her. I felt like there was no proper accountability that she managed, or even a proper apology. We have to get that out of her by saying “wow, we’re done.” (Which that dialogue is so satisfying, and I definitely recommend for you to watch it)
It was a stupid thing that our ending was dependent on saving the girl that seemed to not really care for this GOLDEN opportunity of redemption. The idea of redemption is forgive to yourself and choose to do better, and yet we have nothing like that with Visi.
I feel maybe if we had more time with the character we could properly understand get her the help. But even then, a lot of players (including me I guess??) had huge problems with Visi being the center point of the game’s story because of her character and her dynamics with there characters.
The only proper way mmaybe they could get around it, is do some good therapy for this poor girl? I’m not exactly sure.
These are the two main centered areas that I think that dispatch is struggling with the writing of Dispatch 2. And it makes sense why they’re even hesitant on announcing of a POSSIBILITY of having a sequel; because there’s such difficultly writing it, and it would be damn near impossible to do work arounds for the sake of keeping the audience still captured.
I think there are some rumors of the game just being centered on the world. Which, could work. But I believe a lot of the players fell in love with characters initially rather than the gameplay. Which is a massive amount of clicks and slight moments, which is mainly centered around mini-games. As well as the story, which was amazing. But but it was the VA and characters that made it all enjoyable.
I see they could a maybe do some sort of a prequel of the game. Where we get to learn more of the characters, that’s excluding the already discussed info. Like, why wasn’t Robert taken away by social workers due to inabilities of proper care from Robbie? (More likely due to heroic, or that Robert was hidden by the media for the sake of a more great reputation.) maybe they could go into detail about Robert’s life with being Mecha man that led up to meeting shroud? Did Robert cry when his dad died? What was Shroud initially like(ignoring comics, cause it had a rough idea of what Shroud seems to be)? How did he he meet Beef? (I have no proper idea if they had any answer for this btw)
They could explain a lot of these questions! Let’s know about your theories or ideas of what could happen in Dispatch 2!
