Prologue

It wasn't uncommon for you to run into other vigilantes on your nightly patrols. Nowadays, Hells Kitchen was bursting at the seams with them. Most of the time, they weren't even vigilantes, just citizens making sure their families would be safe for the night.

There was one other that was different.

The Punisher AKA Frank Castle.

You didn't run into each other per se but every now and again would feel him watching you from a nearby rood top. You didn't really mind though, it put you at ease sometimes, knowing that there was someone else nearby for the rear occasion of needed backup. Other times, he felt like a predator getting ready for the kill.

This one night in particular was different. He was actually there. Not hiding in the shadows or across the street on a roof of his own, but in front of you. His back was to you as he looked at the street from his perch. God, he was massive.

You work up the steel nerves to say something, this was the first attempt at contact so naturally, you were curious. "Hey!"

He turns around and you feel your confidence slip ever so slightly. He walks towards you and as he gets closer you can clearly see how he towers over you by a good 5 inches at least. His face was uncovered and you could see the bruised and cuts that adorned his face, including a gash across the bridge of his nose. by the angle it's at, you guess there's a fresh break.

He looks you up and down, observing your slender frame and shorter-than-most height. "You shouldn't be doin' this."

You're taken aback. He doesn't even know you! Why would he have any say in your nightly habit? "Excuse me?"

He steps a little closer in an attempt to intimidate you but you remain unfaltering. "I said you shouldn't be doin' this. This vigilante shit. I've seen you get your shit rocked more than once so leave it to someone who knows what they're doin'."

This. This hurts your ego, badly. "How the hell would you know if I can or cannot handle myself. You don't know what kind of training I've gone through. You have no idea who I am!"

He looks exhausted like he's trying to calm down a toddler and not a grown-ass woman. "Listen, Sweetheart-"

"Do NOT call me sweetheart!" you can feel yourself growing angrier by the second. "You don't know the kind of targets I've taken down. I bet if you weren't so BAT-SHIT INSANE I could take you down, too!"

He at you, to the side, sighs, and then walks back to the edge of the roof. He has his hand on his hip like he's deep in thought. By the time he's turned around, you're gone into the night.
