whenever all the characters are cis it takes me right out of the narrative. why does everyone always have to be cis? it's just not realistic. i'm sorry i promise i'm not cisphobic, some of my best friends are cis, but i don't get why people have to make things political all the time :/

i get a little tired of the "TWYRE IS MARIJUANA!!!!11!!1!" headcanon. like do herbs not exist to you guys. it always makes me think of that scene in calendar girls where one of the main character's kids gets busted for smoking what turns out to be oregano. in the end i don't care all that much it's just one of those things that becomes "this fandom has one joke" and once you've seen it a handful of times it stops being funny.

Battlespire I also have through GoG! I own a loose copy too but they’re subject to the same limitations so tomato tomáto; my best advice is to mess with the resolution settings in the dosbox_battlespire config. just make sure to back it up first, battlespire can be finicky and crash with new settings depending on your video card! personally I still haven’t found a combination of renderers and resolution scalers that make it look any better blown up, but maybe someday

i am so normal about artemy it's unreal. i won't say everyone else is wrong about them because i know A Few People who have such good headcanons about mx. burakh but i am still right here ready to kill for him. his classic design is soooo good hands on tummy is everything to me. and by bite i do not mean do violence but i mean. you know. i think we all want to bite artemy burakh.

so. i have this theory that daniil is like a cryptid in the capital. he is a famous scientist but he is also like an urban legend. people are not sure that he truly exists because everything they hear about him is so wild. so they think this guy can't possibly be real until they meet him and then they're very underwhelmed until he opens his mouth and they're like oh wow actually you are insane.

Metropolis (1927, dir. Fritz Lang) is one of the films i saw in a film class in undergrad and i just looooved it. old as hell science fiction my beloved. i think a lot about pathologic & metropolis shared themes of how the mediator between the head & the hands must be the heart, etc etc etc. anyway it's long for a silent film but so good imo.

Carrie (1976 dir. Brian De Palma) i don't even see Carrie as a horror movie i see it as #girlpower film. revenge flick. i love seeing her inflict pain on all the people in her life that pushed her into a corner like that. the novella's not bad but the film is a classic to me.

Akira (1988, dir. Katsuhiro Otomo) kept coming up in suggestions for foreign flicks and i decided to read the manga first. binged the series in a week and watched the film... it's such a good adaptation because it was directed by the mangaka even though it leaves out so much worldbuilding i still love it. i have the soundtrack on vinyl.

The Edukators (2007, dir. Hans Weingartner) is actually the only one i'm putting on this list that i need to rewatch and see how i feel about it but this is something else i watched for a film class and became obsessed with. mostly putting it on my fave films rotation because i think more people should watch it. group of anticapitalists breaking into rich peoples' houses to rearrange their furniture and leave threatening messages. i'm not saying we should do this i am NOT.

Get Out (2017, dir. Jordan Peele) after i watched this i was like okay actually this should have won the Oscar (no hate to the Shape of Water i loved that one too) but the pacing in Get Out is so perfect, the amount of foreshadowing is so good. it really made me think differently about horror movies because i never thought of them being so direct before in terms of like, social critique. one of those 'you can just do that?' moments.

picking favorites is always soooooo hard because they just rotate in my head... also not sure how much movies that i would have said before really hold up. like i was obsessed w Slumdog Millionaire in high school but i'm not sur ehow i'd feel about it looking back... and then there's the problematique films like Silence of the Lambs and my love-hate relationship with Rebel Without a Cause... yeah... i also need to go out and find more movies directed by women to put on here honestly bc this is severely lacking

Of all the sections of Artemy interacting with Daniil's partners in Honey & Venom, the one I'm the most attached to is him interacting with Peter. I wanted to address Peter's addiction as a serious issue that doesn't just magically get better because that's not realistic, but also... wanted to give Artemy some flaws. And I think one of their flaws is that they're very judgmental. You don't have to have Artemy always say what is exactly on their mind, but some of the stuff they think is not the most charitable, so I figured that could be a flaw for them. I didn't want to write a fic in which Daniil is the only one fucking up, because so often in stories it's just the protagonist who makes mistakes and that always rubs me the wrong way. So yeah :)
