would just like to remind everyone that discrimination towards queer women is still very prevalent in the gay community
my friend and I got refused entry to a gay club on Friday night for literally no reason at all. we were sober. hadn’t been rude. we’re both 21 (nearly 22) with valid ID’s.
we were asked where we had been, we said “Hayley Kiyoko”. then were told by the rude bouncer, “not tonight girls” and after repeatedly asking for an explanation he continuously raised his hand and said “have a nice night”.
prior to this he had allowed two girls entry and then seemingly changed is mind on the spot and immediately chased them inside to throw them out. (my friend and I caught up with them later and they said they were both sober also and he hadn’t told them why they had been removed either)
the male gay community is still not entirely accepting of women and this was a very stark realisation for me.
She elaborates on her identity as pansexual and explains the concept of gender fluidity. Additionally, Dani sheds light on the discrimination faced by transgender individuals within the LGBTQ+ community. Dani reflects on her personal experience, noting that while her mother accepted her relatively quickly, it took longer for her father to come to terms with her identity. The interview offers a valuable perspective from within the LGBTQ+ community, highlighting the universal desire for respect, dignity, and peaceful coexistence within our communities.
