Learning to focus can be a very lengthy and difficult process. My pilates instructor once said ‘If you ever call yourself a practicing ___, it means you are a student. That’s not a bad thing. It means you are always learning and improving.”

So, taking that to heart, I’m a practicing witch. I haven’t mastered focusing so I don’t have any sure-fire things but I do have suggestions.

Meditate.

Some people need silence, others need music, some need that meditation music stuff/nature sounds. Whatever you find works for you, incorporate that.

Some people like to exercise, some people like to sit straight, others curl on a comfy couch. Find a place, action, or position that works for you.

Clear your mind. The easiest way I can do this is to focus on my breathing. I had to take yoga as therapy work when I went through surgery and I was told by my instructors to breathe through my nose and focus on my breath. It worked for me so that’s my go-to. If you want, you can focus on your heart beat or a body part or whatever works but try to pick something that is yours and comes from you. That way, you won’t build a crutch. 

Be patient with yourself. Your mind is going to wander and that’s okay. When you notice that it is, gently guide it back to your focus point.

Practice frequently. No once a month stuff. Dedication. The more you practice, the better you will get and the faster/more places it will happen/you will be able to do it.

In all utter and complete honesty?

Nope. Nope Nope Nope.

I don’t like it. Not one bit. The energies aren’t good. My spirit work isn’t good. Not even the In-Between is happy. 

Josha and I have a 5-10 year plan to get out of society and be self-sufficient. Our plan is to buy a huge chunk of land, have a small farm, and raise a middle finger to everyone else. Hell, we are even building our house under ground and bomb proofing it. Zombie apocalypse? That’s a real worry with us. I don’t own a gun just because it’s a cute accessory.
