How to tie things together: Kenzie style
Okay, so awhile ago, Eli was actually dating a wonderful Dirk Strider up on this here Tumblr. Please note this was before her memory loss.
Things were going really great between them! And even though she was having a lot of issues with her emotions and trying to figure out how she felt about Dave, she still loved Dirk very much and they were very happy together.
So when things got bad; when she started dying of some illness because she couldn't bring herself to eliminate Dave, she erased Dirk's memory of her.
Now, why on earth would she do that?
Think about it, for those of you that really know her story.
She has been married before, to a man named Arturo. She was married to him in the year 1352.
The Black Plague had started to destroy Europe in 1348.
Arturo had gotten the plague and was dying from it, and there was nothing Eli could do about it. She didn't know she was "different" at the time.
So she was by his side for several days, trying everything she could to help him fight the illness.
She went through a lot of pain and when he died, she was NEVER the same, even over six hundred years later she's not quite over that trauma of watching the love of her life die a slow and very painful death.
Now bring it back to her relationship with Dirk; she didn't want him to watch what she had to watch with Arturo, because that's a horrible way to die.
And that's why Dirk's memory was erased, because she didn't want him to end up like her.
