The DIONNE QUINTUPLETS
They were the first known quintuplets who survived infancy which gave the children extraordinary fame. They were born in Canada into a poor family. The girls were put into an exhibition called Quintland, which was like a type of zoo so tourists could come to observe the children at play. It was one of the most popular tourist sites and made a lot of money between 1936-1943. The children saw very little of the money.
When they grew up they were treated like slaves, bullied by their carers and parents, abused and sexually assaulted. Only 2 of the 5 women are still alive today.

Miniature quilted glass perfume bottles celebrating the Dionne Quintuplets made by Rieger Parfumer sometime in the 30's to 40's. my friend Craig restores furniture and he works from an old warehouse loft that is close to my place... he has a most interesting collection of arty stuff and curios... THIS is a painting of the Dionne Quints... of course the first thing I thought of was that it was quite perfect that the Dionne home had 5 stairs leading to their porch... and FYI, "The Dionne girls were born two months premature. After four months with their family, they were made Wards of the King for the next nine years under the Dionne Quintuplets' Guardianship Act, 1935.[1] The government and those around them began to profit by making them a significant tourist attraction in Ontario."
