Even being new, Seles knew something was amiss in the city. How could she not have noticed the threats scrawled in red on the city walls? The White Fang is rising, it read. Death to the humans. Right underneath, more obscene threats had been hurled, this time written by a human degrading the non-humans. The exchange disgusted her and Seles looked away.
“What’s going on here? Do you feel that way about humans?”
Maybe it was unwise to demand answers from a stranger on the road, particularly as a girl who looked human speaking to a non-human. But Seles wanted to hear what the elf would say, or who she thought was an elf judging from his pointed ears. Her mother had elven blood and her father human’s, so to her there were no sides.
