Dino con was INCREDIBLE HOLY SHITTTT! I did so well (i sold out of plushies in the first HOUR WTF) and had a lot of fun with friends and met some that ive known online for YEARS! A massive massive thank you to dino con for hiring me to do the offical art for this year, it was sooo trippy seeing my art everywhereā¦ also a big thanks to annie for letting me help judge the cosplay contest this year it was a lot of fun. I hope we get more participants next year. Im going to be helping with the rules and stuff so if anyone has any feedback lemmie know, im already thinking we need two awards: performance award for people that didnāt make their costumes and a craftsmanship award for people that did. Also thank you to ben wiles for doing a photoshoot with me and dahy :)

This post by @whyenn-reader gave me a spark of inspiration, so I did a progression of my art style over the years using my first oc, the titular Dinofur
I could've done like 4+ more stages, but I decided to keep it more straightforward. Old art I used as reference and discussion of the research under the cut!
Okay so I kind of obsessively archive my old art if i can, particularly digital art, so references for these were easy to find for the most part. I should note that Dinofur has always existed in a state of her wings being interchangeable, so I drew her both with and without them in this piece
Mid 2013
This was really easy to reference, as Google photos saved my images from Google+. This was when I was first getting into digital art
Late 2013
This was when I got my first sketchbook and my art really started to explode. I also really started drawing on my iPad in Ibispaint rather than in MSpaint, and it shows. I also really started taking a lot of inspiration from the friends I was making online, particularly my friend Mizu Star
Late 2014
I only have one drawing of Dinofur from this time, which made recreating it difficult, especially considering the way the drawing is shaded. This was the point where her tabby markings transitioned from being white to a darker grey, and apparently her scars disappeared? Either that or this is a drawing of her when she was young and thus before she got her scars
Mid 2015
Okay, so, confession, I don't actually have any art of Dinofur from this time period. Because of that, I referenced other art I did at the time and used I ref I made of Dinofur a year later for the markings.
This was when I decided her purple eye would be green instead and switched which eye was which, though I'm not sure why! This was also when I decided she would be mostly Egyptian Mau/based on the markings of Egyptian Mau
Late 2016
This ref focuses on when I still considered her a fursona, but also works with her having still been an oc. Honestly, self-insert would've been a better term for it. She continues the ever-inevitable march towards more and more realistic markings. At this point I'd realized I was on the aroace spectrum, but hadn't realized I was nonbinary yet.
This was also after I did a hard shift in my art style, totally ditching that attempt at a super realistic style, since I wasn't liking the art I was making with it
Present
Look, there could be at least two more stages between this stage and the last one, but I didn't want the image to get absurdly long, so I capped it at 6. As a result we have an almost 10 year gap in the resume, but the main reason behind this was because 2017 was when I started leaning hard into drawing humans and humanoids, and so the style changes with cats weren't as severe. Early 2020 was when I made the most recent version of Dinofur's design, with her losing the left shoulder scar and the scar by her eye. Definitely makes her face less cluttered! I also ditched the dark markings under her eyes by this point ā they were giving her the wrong vibe
I can't help reminiscing on how inevitable Fireheart and Rosy's relationship falling apart felt. From the moment they first reunited they were never on the same wavelength, never matching each other's energy; they never quite clicked like Fireheart did with his Clanmates. Every time Rosy brought up their mother or littermates it didn't seem to be that important to him. He knew where his parents and siblings were, and it wasn't in the houses, but she couldn't understand that
Rosy was sort of doomed to fail in this regard. She wasn't taught enough about the world to realize that her family was going to be out of her reach eventually, no matter what she tried to do. She thought she was making a good decision, talking to Fireheart, giving him Cloudnose, trying to keep her baby with her when danger reigned in his home. If she had only grasped that she didn't have any power outside of her yard and house, and understood the scale of the sacrifice she was making when she gave her brother that kitten... maybe things would have turned out better. They just didn't.

Iāve drawn this before but I have headcanons for how other disabled Inphernals shower, particularly Hyperlaser who sponge bathes to not irritate his burns and uses a stick to get anywhere heās too fat to reach normally, Broker who showers in cold water so they canāt burn themself without realizing, and Katana who has to clean extra well around his mouth because of the drooling his scars cause

Introducing my truesona (as a guy who already has a fursona), Beauregard Bones! You can just call him Beau, though.
As a fursona haver I do identify a lot more with the species of my main sonaāa penguinābut the character itself of my main fursona is meant to be just one aspect of me, my love of clowning and being social, making people smile! Beau is all of me, the good, the bad and the ugly. I love my dinosaur and I hope you do too! Iād talk about him more but thatās literally just talking about myself and Iād rather not for anonymityās sake. But feel free to ask questions about him and I can decide if Iām comfortable enough asking! He probably wonāt be seen nearly as much as my main fursona, the outgoing and energetic Jester, but heās always around!
