HE WONDERS IF SHE’S TELLING THIS TO HERSELF OR HIM. cause lord knows he’s been the class “fuck up” for years --and learning that stumbling or failing a few times isn’t the end of the world was a hard lesson, especially when he surrounded himself with folks like dick and donna who could rarely do wrong. but with healing came peace and an acceptance in himself and his mistakes. 

HE KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT SHE MEANS. it’s the impulse to protect someone you love even from the little things cause their sadness stings so much. and roy knows he’s got no shortage of “bad things” in his past --things he wished someone did protect him from when they happened. but at the end of the day...he’s grown from the experience, risen from the darkest pits of the abyss and came back a phoenix. 

      Strength comes in numbers, and in the case of Donna Troy, she had Tim’s strength tenfold. Tim figured Dick wasn’t available, so he sent one of his crew members to help him out. Thank goodness it was the Amazon Princess. He was so glad to see her, a sigh of relief flew out of him, as he gagged and bound Robin allowed his defense down. He wiggled in his seat, as he were urging her to get him out of his restraints before they returned. Not like he had to worry too much about that.

life  lessons !    -    accepting.

there’s  something  snarkier  on  his  tongue,   something  barbed  and  poised  to  fence  in  whatever  else  might  try  to  slip  out,   but  lo   &   behold  miracles  can  happen  as  jason  swallows  down  his  thorns  rather  than  unleash  them. 

the  state  of  his  mind  is  tumultuous  on  a  good  day,   without  taking  into  account  even  the  weight  of  an  old  life  he  carries  like  the  burden  of  atlas   --   heavy   &   cumbersome,   but  unwilling  to  set  it  down,   even  for  a  moment,   as  if  the  world  would  end  if  he  let  go  of  even  a  fraction.   it  scrapes  him,   cuts  him,   fights  him,   and  still  jason  refuses  to  surrender.   because  burying  it  away  would  be  the  same  as  acknowledging   ( as  proving  right )   the  frightened  pieces  of  him  that  insist  they  are  memories  of  a  life  he  stole,   rather  than  one  he  belongs  to.

( sitting  at  the  breakfast  table  nursing  a  half - eaten  bowl  of  cereal  as  he  nudges  a  stack  of  notecards  toward  the  groggy  face  of  bruce  seated  at  the  end  of  the  table  to  his  left,   pleading  for  a  last  practice  test  before  chemistry  class  in  the  afternoon.   laying  in  bed  in  a  fever - induced  fugue  state,   curled  miserably  beneath  the  covers  whilst  alfred  sits  attentively  at  his  bedside,   pushing  damp  strands  of  hair  from  his  sweat  slicked  forehead.   toes  curling  against  the  training  mat,   knuckles  taped  and  primed,   facing  off  against  dick  and  contemplating  each   &   every  way  he  could  wipe  that  prematurely  victorious  smirk  off  of  his  predecessor’s  face ).
