July 1958 Faceless people are after us. Were after us, until we struck a deal with one of them. It's neck to throat type of work so dubious morality of our new made friend is not only on the table but consists of full course meal and additional dessert. Currently her capacity of harm is limited exactly by the condition we're trying to cure. I'm not saying we didn't change before, as we got to this point but embracing long term survival at the cost of other people is not something I ever imagined myself doing. How privileged of me I guess. To be where I was, not having to think about it. And now for having to do the dirty work instead of becoming the direct victim of it. Some might say that, considering the circumstances, I could call myself a victim too, since if I could choose to remain pure, I would. Neither of those feel right for me. ~ Mateo
