When checking in or out of a hotel, you may come across the term "hotel folio" — but what exactly does it mean? Whether you're a guest trying to make sense of your charges or a hotelier aiming to streamline billing, understanding hotel folios is key to clarity, transparency, and customer satisfaction.

In this guide, we'll break down what a hotel folio is, its key components, types, and how it benefits both guests and hotel staff. Let's dive in.

For this brief, we were given a talk by a member of the Alamy company who explained how the company works and what it can do to benefit us. Students get 100% commission from this business which means we can earn a little money from our images. In this brief we were to submit 3 of our chosen images to the Alamy website and then wait for our images to pass Quality Control. I chose to submit 3 of my images from the ‘Glass’ brief.  After about 24 hours, I received an email telling me my images had passed QC. 

Once my images had passed QC, it meant I could move on to the next part of the brief and tag all of my images with the 50 hashtags that were needed to help sell my photos. As well as this, I can now submit more images to the website for sale. 

PRESS EVENT - EVALUATION 

For this brief, I feel I could have done a lot better in terms of preparation and my shots. I started off with a lot of difficulty as I was unable to get the lens I had planned to use, so I was only able to use a 50mm lens that I had which didn't give me much room to fit the subjects I wanted into frame. I also ended up being unable to make it to the start of the march, so all of my shots are from the crowd which ended in George Square. However, this did mean that I was able to catch some true emotions from the people marching as they listened to the protest speaker. Overall, I am fairly happy with the images I have and I feel that to an extent I have managed to get a good portrayal of the emotion of the march. However, I do think that had I of made it to the beginning of the march and had the lens I intended to use, my shots could have been a lot more fitted to the brief.

CONTACT SHEET

For this exercise, we were challenged to make a shoot from a subject and create a 24 frame contact sheet where every frame is substantially different. These shots could include a shot from outside looking in, extreme close up, shallow depth of field, worm’s eye view, wide angle shot, from above, dutch angle, etc. 

COLLEGE SPACES

For our first college brief we were given the task to explore our college building and create “surprising” images of the campus for the college marketing team. We were given no time for research and 3 hours to complete the entire assignment and were also told to consider the light, architecture, design and the detail of the building when shooting. 

My approach to this assignment was to photograph the centre of the building where most of the students tend to hang out. This is also the first part of the building you see when entering. I stuck around the staircase area and found that sticking to the detail of the steps was the best angle to take.
