                he   couldn't   explain   why   he   did   it   if   he   tried   ,      really.      when   the   portal   had   closed   behind   him      &      the   fourth   &   final   member   of   gorillaz   hadn't   made   it   through   ,      2D   knew   he   had   to   go   back   for   him.      despite   the   many   years   of   arguing   ,      fighting   ,      the   band   breaking   up      &      getting   back   together   more   times   than   the   singer   could   count      ──────      he   still   knew   deep   down   that   he'd   never   be   able   to   live   with   himself   if   he'd   left   murdoc   there   to   sink   like   plastic   beach.      so   he   pushed   back   into   the   portal   &   threw   his   arm   out   to   latch   onto   the   bassist's   ,      dragging   him   through   with   all   his   strength.

                           ❛❛   Put   it   back.   ❜               His   voice   was   low,   and   quiet,   but   he   was   at   least   controlling   his   temper.   That   was   one   of   Sarvente’s   things.   The   Russian   had   very   few   rules,   but   this   was   one   of   the   biggest   ones.   Don’t   mess   with   HER   things.               ❛❛   You   cannot   keep.   Is   important   to   my   friend.   ❜

                unamused   ,      2D's   black   eyes   stared   right   into   murdoc's   own   mismatched   pair.      it   wasn't   hard   to   tell      ──────      murdoc   was   drunk   again.      he   had   to   be   ,      otherwise   he   wouldn't   have   that   big   doe   -   eyed   look   of   shock   on   his   face   as   he   saw   2D   unpacking   his   things   in   his   bedroom   of   their   new   studio.      he   wouldn't   let   those   two   words   tumble   from   his   lips   ,      so   surprised      &      so   genuine   that   2D   almost   flinched   back.      of   course   he   stayed.      he'd   spent   many   long   nights   mulling   over   the   option   to   leave      &      never   return      ──────      to   put   gorillaz   behind   him   before   he   got   sucked   back   into   the   life   of   fame.      furthermore   ,      he   could   just   go   solo   ...   2D   had   offers   ,      lots   of   'em   !      solo   albums   ,      tv   shows   ,      movies      ...      but   every   time   he   got   close   to   making   the   decision   ,      the   faces   of   noodle      &      russel      (   yes   ,      murdoc   too   ,      though   2D   vehemently   refused   to   admit   it   )      flashed   through   his   head   &   reminded   him   why   he   was   there   in   the   first   place.      they   were   a   family   ,      whether   they   liked   it   or   not.

Rain had been studying, but a visit from a friend brings her pause. She glances up from the book, removes her headphones, and then, she stares. Even blinks. He’s holding out flowers to her, and she doesn’t quite know what to do about it. They’re daisies, which happen to be her favorite, and she’s sure that maybe she mentioned it off hand once. But did he actually remember?

                                 Should   he   have   been   concerned?   Sure,   he   was   wanted,   but   he   knew   that   thanks   to   that   kid   and   his   girlfriend,   he   and   Sarv   had   started   to   get   somewhat   of   a   reputation.   Looking   over   his   shoulder   as   he   was   tearing   down   one   of   the   “DANGEROUS”   posters   he   had   noticed,   Ruv   blinked   slightly.               ❛❛   Mm.   Don’t   get   out   much.   Am   I   known?   Nice   to   meet   you   too,   if   that’s   what’s   being   said...   ❜
