speculating on the future is always a common discussion. black mirror, westworld, whatever - technology and our ever growing digitalization is always at the heigh of the conversation. but no one discusses the possibility of our us reverting back to ‘ancient’ (as in like 10 years ago) technology. in efforts to remain anonymous, i wont disclose much about me but being born in mid 1990s, i am part of the last generation of ~ millennials ~ that didnt grow up with the internet. yes, it existed but i still remember dial-up, car phones and not being able to text cause it costed too much. if you're still reading, you'll notice im ranting - exactly why i decided to create this tumblr. im an artist and im interested in exploring the past popular, short lived ways of expression - in this case, blogging. the internets original popular characteristics was the fact you could remain anonymous, you could be anyone you wanted to be with little consequences - our internet has changed. its about being as public as you can be with virtually anything. digital lust - our sexualized, infinite obsession with over sharing via internet. i originally began experiment this on my person twitter - wrong mistake. my followers followed me for a specific reason, i was posting zero substance internet art which was gaining me followers and they were not into my conceptualization of low-fi art. thought about making a website, too accessible. tumblr has maintained its popularity without changing to please the common user. same structure, same anonymity, same freedom. not sure where im gonna go with this but look at it as a digital experiment - attempting to gain a following with the forgotten #hashtag.
