Just yesterday you were nothing more than another face, another office worker in a corporate meat grinder — but you had a place to live, no guns to keep under your pillow, and even health insurance, and that was enough for you.
And today? You lost everything. But listen, it's not like getting infected with a virus and nearly spilling the governmental secrets to the public was on your to-do list. And now you've no choice but to accept your new life as a criminal — or a mercenary, as your friend prefers to call it. Must be ironic for an upstanding citizen like you, huh?
As it turns out, getting corporate assasins that want you six feet under off your tail isn't a pleasant activity, but it becomes even worse when you start to find out more than you actually anticipated. Luckily, you're not alone in this — having people who are on the same page as you surely helps when you're stuck in a place like this.
Androids, guns, nice cars and all that stuff, right? Well, try to enjoy it while you still can. Who knows when you're going to be the next target?
Customise your newly minted merc as you please — gender, pronouns, sexuality and appearance — all that good stuff.
Five romance options, two of which are gender-selectable.
Get some cool implants and a little change of image — must've been boring to wear that grey suit all the time.
Try to steal something very important from the Corp, kill some guys, engage in some B&E with your rebellious team — it'll be fun!
And maybe even find out what the Corp is actually up to.
The artificer, Isa [m]
A surgeon, a mender, a bioengineer — call him whatever you want; it's essentially the same thing in this line of work. Maybe he's not the best when it comes to interpersonal relationships, but you can trust him with all the mech work if you need the newest cyberware in Novus. And if things go south — well, you're in safe hands as long as he's there to put you back together again.
The mercenary, Jol [f]
Your closest friend and maybe the only one, for that matter. She's an owner of a small bar where you're a regular visitor, but you'd never guess that she's actually a criminal and all this bullshit with her business was all just a farce to cover up her real occupation. But she was the one who offered you a ticket to the new life in the first place instead of leaving you to die in the gutter, so you should be grateful for that, at least.
The runner, Vic [f/m]
A hacker with unlimited patience and golden hands that seem to always be busy with something far beyond your understanding. They're actually the reason why you're stuck here now, so how do you feel about that? Well, even if you're not sure yet, you'll have a few minutes to sort out your feelings while they're stealing the data from the Hound Corp servers.
The renegade, Reza [nb]
An enigmatic figure that seems to share your sentiments, but you can't quite figure out what their real motives are. Despite their alliance with the higher ups, they have different plans that ought to be successful, unless you want to get involved, of course. But if they ask you to interfere, after all, it won't be a request — it'll be an order.
The machine, Neo [f/m]
An android that appears to be far more human than they intended to be, with their kind and thoughtful demeanor, and you can't quite say if it's for better or worse. They're just tugging along for now, much like you, running away from their past. Anyhow, they're quite useful when it comes to things that humans can't physically do, so nobody can really complain about their presence.
