Difret (2014) Zeresenay Mehari

So, I've been scrolling thru the categories on Netflix and if you're bored and don't mind reading English subtitles, there are 2 movies you should definitely watch. Difret and Neerja. Both are based on real life stories. Difret is about "A young lawyer [who] works to free a 14-year-old Ethiopian girl who's facing the death penalty after shooting a man who tried to force her into marriage." Rated: TV-14 Spoken Language: Amharic. Subtitles: English Neerja is about "A 24-year-old flight attendant [who] faces down terrorists and get own fears to save her passengers when a New York-bound jet is hijacked by Terrorists." (The bulk of the film takes place in Karachi, Pakistan) Rated: NR (however I think based on a bit of research it would be PG-13) Spoken Language: Hindi (and some English) Subtitles: English Normally, I'm not one to watch foreign language films but both of these films are very good and worth watching.

Angie attended the 2014 Variety Screening Series of Ethiopian drama Difret at the ArcLight Hollywood cinema in California on Tuesday.

The 39-year-old actress and executive producer was joined at the event by the stars of the film Meaza Ashenafi and Tizita Hagere, producers Francesca Zampi and Leelai Demoz, as well as director Zeresenay Mehari as they all sat down to chat about the drama.
