What is an NDTR? @rdnutritionca • ✨We celebrate the final day of #NationalNutritionMonth with informative posts about the #nutrition team!⠀ ⠀ ✨Nutrition and dietetics technicians, registered (NDTRs) are an integral part of healthcare and food service management teams. They are educated and trained in nutrition and dietetics practice to deliver safe and high-quality food and nutrition services. ⠀ ⠀ ✨NDTRs may work under the supervision of a registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) in settings involving direct patient/client nutrition care, such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and other health-care programs. NDTRs are responsible for nutrition screening, gathering data, and performing assigned tasks to assist the nutrition team.⠀ ⠀ ✨NDTRs may also work independently in providing general nutrition education to healthy populations in a variety of settings such as schools, day-care centers, Women, Infants, Children (WIC) programs, Meals on Wheels and community health programs, food companies, and contract food management companies.⠀ ⠀ ✨Specific tasks to a NDTRs in an independent setting may include:⠀ - Assisting with managing employees⠀ - Purchasing, budgeting, and preparation of food⠀ - Assisting registered dietitians with the implementation of programs⠀ - Providing general nutrition knowledge ⠀ - Developing menus⠀ - Conducting nutrient analysis ⠀ - Overseeing foodservice sanitation and food safety⠀ ⠀ ✨NDTRs are nationally credentialed food and nutrition technical practitioners who have completed a dietetic technician program by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) ⠀ - OR completed coursework in an ACEND-accredited didactic program ⠀ - OR coordinated program in dietetics with at least a bachelor's degree at a U.S. regionally accredited college or university. ⠀ ⠀ ✨An individual must meet the following criteria to earn and maintain the NDTR credential.⠀ ⠀ #cand #ndtr #diettech #nutritionteam #healthcare #foodservice #communitynutrition #march https://www.instagram.com/p/B-3EUTqpf9r/?igshid=swhiwqofpkve
