“Pardon me, but that color is stunning you.” Henry didn’t normally walk around complementing strangers, especially when he had other things to do, but the woman looked vaguely familiar and so did her dress. A designer he’d worn before, maybe? Regardless, sometimes a beautiful choice simply needed attention drawn to it in appreciation. 

He was currently engaged in stress-shopping; Sybill was still missing and he was out of his head with worry, and Nigel had a giant target on his back. So as a distraction Henry had decided to spruce up his wardrobe and perhaps pick up some gifts on the way; one could never have too many designer cashmere sweaters. He’d been in the middle of perusing a rack of burnt velvet shawls when the woman’s dress caught his eye. 

Screams peppered the air as Kingsley looked around, determined to start getting people to safety. Children first, children and--- his eyes caught on Diana Greengrass. Pregnant women.

“Mrs. Greengrass,” he said as he made his way to her, “Mrs. Greengrass, please follow me, I can get you out of here.”

Diana,

Congratulations on the baby! I talked to your husband about it, and I’m sorry I haven’t had a chance to talk to you in person about it. Maybe we should get coffee. Are you supposed to drink coffee when you’re pregnant? Tea would probably be the “respectable” drink, wouldn’t it? Am I overthinking things? Maybe I’ll just write another one tomorrow.”

“My name is Diana and I definitely married down I am a 12 and Greengrease is a 2 at best.” Wait no. That’s just me Diana wouldn’t say that. Umm... “beauxbatons is much better than Hogwarts. This country as such lower standards.”

Seeing Diana out and about this soon after having her baby didn’t really surprise him. All of Laure’s stories had painted her as rather the social butterfly. Only she seemed to do it simply for the status of it all rather than the joy of it. Gilderoy could respect that, even if he couldn’t fathom leaving a baby alone this young. He had the habit of hovering over his infant cousins when he visited. So many things could happen to babies, after all. It seemed wise to keep an eye on them.

“Diana,” He said pleasantly, opening his arms in a welcoming gesture as he approached her. She looked pristine as always and Gil could respect that as well. Never hurt to be the second best dressed person at a party. “So lovely to see you out and about, your husband is such a doll for putting this all on. Did you help with the decorating? It has the touch of someone with a keen eye.”

I am writing you to see if we can put our differences behind us. Whilst I dont think we will ever be friends I hope that at some point we could be civil.

I can assure you my intentions are pure. I simply wish to have my friendship again with your husband, and won’t hide that from you. And I feel that it would be impossible for that to happen, should we still want to ring each other’s necks.

I still don’t understand how she always manages to look so put together, but I think we’re friends? I’m not actually sure if I rate that high for her. In a pinch, she’s someone I could go to, which I appreciate.
