- at 19, yoonjaeās awakening was caused by a car accident in the normal realm when he was going to pick up his younger sister from school. he was distracted by a phone call and drove through an intersection where he was hit by a bus
(everything past this is in story realm!)
- at age 11, yoonjae found a wounded cat in the enchanted forest. he was looking to help it but fell down a steep hill and injured his back. after being found by a search party with the cat dead, many people including his parents started treating him differently after that seeing the moment as the catalyst for his destiny
- from that fall, his injury turned into a big ugly scar on his back.
- his whole life was spent trying to get approval and the same love his older sibling received from their parentsĀ
- no matter how hard he tried (good or bad strategies) his siblings always did better than himĀ
- eventually heās convinced to start following his destiny and gives into doing cruel and bad things
- up into his second year of college is when he changes his mind about following his destiny when others tell him what heās destined to do to his older sibling
- he choses to leave the family, drop out of college and open a small garage to repair cars and whatnot
- despite the time that he did live as a bad person, yoonjae is pretty friendly. heās very hardworking, diligent and self-aware considering how heās chosen to become a rebel.Ā

ĆĆ tfw my head goes blank the minute i make a new postā i mean, hey! hello hello, welcome everybody! finally here with my pretty pirate danbi, who doesnāt know how to give a fuck about destiny, but also doesnāt know how Not to give a fuck about her doom, so. yāknow. inner turmoil. acting out. captain hook was made for the drama and i am more than happy to twist it for this rpās wonderful premise. got a basic profile and bio up, see-sawing about whether to finish up a plots page or just brainstorm with you lovely lot, but iāll be doin my best to get around to everybody in any case! for a brief rundown of the character (plus ideas for some connections), iāll summarize under the cut:
danbi leans rather heavily into the villainous nature of her destiny. she learns about it fairly young, so sheās predictably excited about Who She Truly Is. emulating that kind of life as a rebellious teen proves similarly entertaining; honestly, sheād consider herself a destined if she had an ambiguous end, rather than a bad one.
alas, the consequences of embracing things are unavoidable. and fucking painful, too, in more ways than one. so danbi tries to balance stalling for time, basically, with maintaining the type of life she leads. meaning, she changes jobs sort of frequently, jumping from one low-level gig to the next, and she hunts for opportunities to steal any chance she gets. itās the closest she can get to, like, pillaging and plundering in a modern day city.
on that note, danbi is an ex-con. only spent a year in prison, but itās on her record. sheās doing her damned best to make sure she doesnāt add to itā or at least gets away with shit for a good, long time before getting arrested again.
if youāre looking for her, and sheās isnāt off on another break-in attempt, your best bet is the magic mirror (when sheās on the job), swan lake, or down the rabbit hole.
but if kids show up anywhere, danbi goes out of her way to steer clear.
now, connections!
with how often danbi quits and finds a job elsewhere, sheās probably got a lot of acquaintances she used to work with.
and with how often she picks pockets and breaks into places, sheās also probably familiar with a number of people who might not know her, in return. until they run into each other for some other reason.
fellow thieves would be welcomed as wellā she doesnāt want to tempt fate again by assembling a group to lead, but she does like making allies in the ābusiness.ā if she takes the lead in arranging things here and there, well, thatās not quite the same, is it?
but also iād love a rivalry. between another criminal, or with a do-gooder! or both.
also, the person who caught her that one time that led to her one and only conviction. iāve got some ideas, but i had to put it out there.

joonwooās personality is quite similar to the disney version of peter panĀ Ā āĀ headstrong, adventurous, protective, brave, fun-loving, caring, mysterious, hotheaded, insecure, loyal, artistic, selfless, daring and charming are all words that describe him very well. thereās a childish arrogance to him at times that appears as a belief that nothing can truly harm him and heās capable of anything (which often results in risky behavior), but overall, heās... responsible? at times?
quite friendly & can get along with almost anyone, so long as they treat him decently. he has a strong distaste for hateful/cynical people, though, and will not attempt to be friendly if he knows it isnāt worth it. has a tendency to get into fights, but the reasons are always justifiable in some way. will not throw a punch just for fun.
in love, he has a reputation for being romantic but noncommittal/unattainable (iykyk). in other words, heās a pro when it comes to handing out false hope. doesnāt necessarily intend to do this, but he loves to be admired and will happily bask in attention without making it clear that the feeling isnāt mutual. doesnāt really believe in love anyway because (1) while he is a rebel...... boyās not tryna face tragedy and (2) every time he tries to date, his partners break up with him because heāsĀ āfun for the moment, but has no long-term potentialā which is.... fair.

he awakened as an infant due to the fact that he died of natural causes. somewhat similar to peter panās story, he was orphaned at a very young age because his parents had a second child whoĀ ātook his placeā. he was old enough to understand what was happening and consequentially has a distrust of parents (especially mothers), despite the fact that he eventually became a father figure for younger kids in the orphanage. also has abandonment issues + commitment issues but we donāt talk about that <3
in school, he was extremely loud and difficult to miss. he made his presence known, especially in his teenage years & frequently raised hell on behalf of mistreatment/bullying/whatever else he saw going down. kinda acted like a parent even in high school in the sense that if teachers were treating a student unfairly, heād scold the teachers like an angry parent would LMAO. teachers didnāt like him much but thatās ok because he hates authority anyway.
also played basketball + ran track. anything to stay active.
has camping/survival skills such as building shelter out of twigs and branches, identifying plants/finding ones that are safe to eat, bird calls, naturally filtering water, tying knots, treating wounds with nothing but natural resources, etc. perfect camping/hiking buddy.
heās current a grad school student! heās studying childhood development + early childhood education. used to babysit for families on the island, but after obtaining his bachelorās degree, he got a job as a part-time daycare supervisor. in between part-time work and part-time studies, he volunteers with exceptional children. mainly does big sibling type volunteer work but also volunteers with teaching on occasion.
obviously his world revolves around kids LMAO but he also likes things like hiking/camping (as stated above), playing guitar, playing games (video games, board games, any games!), telling stories. pretty enthusiastic guy, can appreciate anything.
the general perception of him is that heās far too immature for a twenty-five year old man, but heās still generally liked because of the fact that he never seems to mean any harm. known for being considerate and willing to go to great lengths to help others. the guy that people can come to when they need a smile, a laugh, or unbiased ears to listen to a story. will try his absolute hardest to brighten dark days and restore youthful enthusiasm for life.

ā” due to her never experiencing any difficulties and having very supportive and loving parents, she just assumed that everyone else would be as nice as her parents were. this made her a little naive and overly trusting which wasnāt a problem as it seemed that rina somehow only met nice people ( look at me granting her some extra happy times so i can wreck her life more )
ā” her parents were (still are) the perfect couple which somehow made her obsessed with love. she was that girl who drew heart over the letterĀ āiā. refused to use any marker that wasnāt pink and would always request a romcom at sleepovers when everyone else wanted to watch a horror movie.
ā” anyway rina herself never fell in love herself and kind of feel like a fraud since she gave out love advice but did not really experience love
ā” so one day, that perfect looking (shady) guy entered the cafe and rina fell in love with him. (tbh he wasnāt even that good-looking or funny it was probably just the way the light illuminated him or some shit that made rina believed he was the perfect guy straight out of a movie.....)
ā” turned out he was a complete douchebag. his obsessive behavour forced her to isolate herself from her friends and she kinda had no friends left then. also she actually planned to expand cupid cafe (probably some extra room for her matchmaking business lol) and planned to study but he also didnāt want her toĀ āwaste her time on something elseā and manipulated her into giving up on that thought.Ā
ā” when rina wouldnāt listen heād become violent and rina started to question what love really was and if that what her parents had were just a naĆÆve view on love and that most people couldnāt have the love they did.Ā
ā” eventually she managed to escape from that relationship, but it did change her bcs 1) he never got punished for his actions (since she didnāt report him or told anyone about what had happened) 2) she kinda lost faith in that concept of fate regarding love but also other areas in life.
