thank you! Iâm sorry this is so late :(
[11:20AM] You were rightfully startled when Zion slipped an arm around your waist one morning. But yet, he still did nothing but whisper,
âJust go with it, please.â
Zionâs small smile confused you, the look of it almost making it seem like he was gritting his teeth behind it. But for all you knew, he was.The conversation you had the night before came rushing back to you, and you couldnât help but freeze up. The situation youâd somehow gotten yourselves into was absurd enough to leave either one of you gritting your teeth until the moment you took your last breath.Â
Zion had come to you last night, rushing to talk to you before Lawrence decided to come and usher him off to bed for the night, spewing what sounded like utter nonsense to your tired mind. But, once heâd gathered the courtesy to slow down and spell it out for you, it was an entirely different situation.Â
Heâd talked of arising troubles with Scarlett, and how though he knew she had been harbouring feelings for him for a long time, she was now taking some of her attempts to the extreme.Â
âSo, what?â Youâd asked, rubbing your eyes as you processed what he was saying. âYou want me to pretend to be your girlfriend so sheâll get the hint and leave you alone?â
He paused, now sheepish as he realised how much he was asking of you. âYeah, about. Itâs fine if you donât want to, I just-â
âI can do it,â You interrupted, âBut, canât you just talk to her about it first? Maybe if you talk to her-?â
He sighed and gave you an uncharacteristically tired smile. âIf it was that easy Iâd of done already, kid.â
You mightâve had to be reminded of the agreement you made, but, through his tight smile, you remembered well enough.Â
âUh,â Harry looked between the two of you and back to Zionâs arm around your waist. âWhatâs going on..?â
Zion grinned at the other boy, nailing the casual look he was trying so hard to project. âWhat? A guy canât hug his girlfriend?â
The room went silent, and you tensed against him, thinking that you had already been found out. Harry looked slightly puzzled and Lawrence looked utterly shocked, while Scarlett was oddly quiet.Â
Scarlett was still the first to give a reaction, though, scoffing haughtily. âThereâs no way. Donât joke around like that, Zion,â
A look of triumph only you could deduce swam through his eyes as he leaned over your shoulder with a sweet smile. It was so natural that even you were convinced that he did indeed have feelings for you, at least before you remembered the situation.
But Scarlett was still at a loss for words as the rest exchanged looks.Â
âWhat?â Her voice was soft, rather than angry like youâd expected. But, her attitude went south quickly. âHow could you-? Sheâs a brat!â
âScarlett,â Lawrence warned her, but she didnât stop there, only getting more angry.Â
âShe waltzed in here and immediately got everything she wanted! Sheâs manipulative and why donât you guys canât see that?â
You frowned, narrowing your eyes as the conversation topic switched faster than a snap of your fingers. âWhat are you-â
âShut up,â She hissed, giving you a nasty glare that had irritation burning in your chest. âI didnât ask for your opinion.â
âHarry, can you take her out to calm down?â Lawrence sighed as if the situation was merely just a bother, not noticing the way Harry hesitated. But, upon seeing Zionâs irritated expression, he agreed and led her out by the arm.Â
The days after that only came with more insults, misjudged situations, and arguments that were certainly avoidable. It was like you were influenced by some sort of cursed clock from a fantasy novel: something new every day.Â
Sheâd hidden your food, taken your blankets, ignored you, made fun of moult was like it never ended. At least, you hoped until now.
You knocked on the door to his classroom one day, almost desperate to put an end to the cycle youâd grown to hate. You had agreed thinking light of the situation, but what youâd gotten yourself into was clearly much more.Â
You heard the padding of footsteps behind the door before coming face to face with a yawning Zion. He seemed awfully casual in presentation, and that did nothing but irritate you.Â
âCan I talk to you for a second??â You asked sweetly, the tone of your voice forcing him awake as he looked each way down the hallway.Â
âHere?â He asked this before whispering, âWhat if sheâs listening?â
You forced out a sigh as you took him by the arm and went back into his classroom yourself, closing the door behind you as a makeshift barrier for privacy. You felt like you had no privacy anymore, but hopefully that would change.Â
âJeez, kid. Whatâs got you in such a bad mood?â
âTake a wild guess, Zion.â You hissed, your eyes narrowing as he pulled his lips into a line. âThatâs what I came here to talk about.â
â..Has Scarlett been that bad?âÂ
âHorrible. If she didnât like me before, she despises me now.â
Zion was quiet, as if he was thinking over what youâd said.Â
âIâm sorry to say this, but I donât want to get hurt over something like this. I donât think I can help you anymore.â
He gave you a small smile, but for whatever reason, it looked sad.Â
âAnyone could hurt you, but Iâm the least likely to.â He said, his eyes gentle for a moment before he said, âSo stick around me and I wonât let anything happen to you, I promiseâ
You appreciated his confidence, but this wasnât something you wanted to compromise on.
âZion, thatâs not what Iâm trying to say-âÂ
You trailed off as his eyes flickered away with a sigh.Â
He nodded. âI know what youâre trying to say, but, I just need you to hold on for a little longer. I canât let you go now just to let everything go to waste.â
âLet what go to waste, Zion? What have you done that could possibly go to waste?â Your brows knitted as his face twisted.Â
âSheâs getting the message, ___. We just have to-â
âI canât do this anymore, Zion! Sheâs been so nasty that itâs unbearable!â You said, an edge of desperation slipping into your voice.Â
He noticed this, and took a hesitant step forward, reaching out a hand.Â
âIâll help you, ___. Iâm sorry sheâs doing this to you.â
You looked between his hand and his eyes, unsure of what to make of it. You were trapped between his kindness and a racing desire to put an end to everything once and for all. In the fight, your senses won, but your heart was left aching at the words you let slip.Â
âForget it, youâre a fucking asshole.â
Hot emotion flared in your chest, not of anger, but of regret. You knew that Zion was just trying to show someone that he wasnât interested, but you couldnât help but feel angry that you had to keep dealing with it.Â
â___,â he grabbed your hand as you began to turn away, his eyes soft and only further breaking your heart further.Â
âIâm - Iâm sorry, Zion. I didnât mean that-â
He smiled reassuringly and shook his head. âItâs okay, kid. I get it. Weâll get through this together, promise.â
Thinking about his sincere promises earlier, you asked, ââŚYou promise? Will you stop Scarlett from being such a-â
âYes,â He laughed, interrupting you before you could get any further. âYes, I will. Iâm sorry I never realised that it was so bad for you.â
You sighed in relief, your lips curving up into a smile. âOh, Zion, Iâm so happy I could kiss you! You donât know how much those words relieve me.â
He smile formed into a small smirk as he suggested, âThen why donât you? I am your boyfriend.â
You stared at him as you teasingly narrowed your eyes. âWe just argued and thatâs what youâre thinking about now?â
His smile was goofy as he began, âMy mindâs just going to the important stuff, ___-â
You cut him off by standing up on your tippy toes, just a bit taller, to reach his face and plant a light kiss on his cheek.Â
When you backed away he wasnât flustered like you wouldâve expected, rather just smiling widely at you. You raised a brow as he began to tease you again.
âYou know, I wouldnât mind if you did that more often-â
Now you were the one that was flustered.Â
