Finally learning to appreciate horror.
Like yes, I've always appreciated horror, despite considering myself too scared to watch anything within the horror genre. But now that I've gotten older and have better managed my OCD, I'm now finding horror ENJOYABLE! Like AH it's so good!
And there's so many lovely themes within the horror genre! The use of fear and disturbing imagery in art allows for subliminal messages to hit even harder.
I used to immediately shut down anything that was labeled as horror because I was scared of a lot of things as a kid. Like hell, Scooby Doo was scary to me. But now that I'm older, I finally made the decision to catch up on all of the horror movies I've missed. So far I've watched:
Get Out, The Substance, Ginger Snaps, FNAF 1 (does this count), Jennifer's Body, The Conjuring, The Craft, Pearl, Midsommar, Bodies Bodies Bodies, Love Lies Bleeding, Beetlejuice (1&2), Bird Box, I Saw the TV Glow, Us, and probably some more that I'm forgetting.
I have a BUNCH on my watch list, but if anyone has some suggestions, please lmk! I'm slowly catching up a little bit at a time and I know I haven't seen a lot of classics yet, but I'm working on it dw
