You are not allowed to get me thinking about Devout Dew using holy water or hallowed ground to punish himself. Why would you do this to me (don't stop). It doesn't even really have to be an *angst* thing. But Dew likes the pain, you know. The bite of clarity it brings. Tour is hard for so many reasons and he's faltering and he needs grounding. And maybe he asks for the reminder--for someone to do it to him because he needs that divine punishment. The reminder that he is alive and there are things that hurt and that he can do better. But also, maybe he does it himself. Slips into a church. Feels the way the hallowed ground burns at the arches of his feet. Can tell if a church really has really been consecrated from 100 yards away because he's gotten so used to that particular brand of pain. O H N O what have you done?
