Curumรซ knew when he was in trouble, and right now, right here amidst the shadows of this twisted nightmare that could have been just another turn to the inn he wanted to visit if it hadn't been for the mangled corpse and its murderer blocking his way, he knew he was in deeper trouble than he had ever been before. His life hung by a silver thread.
It was, perhaps, this very knowledge, however, that quieted his racing heartbeat and subdued the panic that bubbled in the depths of his chest only waiting to surface. If he was going to die, he was going to do so on his own terms, he decided. Not a sobbing mess at the mercy of a Vampyre. Even just naming the creature that closed in on him inside his head sent a shiver down his spine, and his breath hitched when the other lifted his chin ever so lightly.
"Perhaps," he answered coyly, "but hopefully my last." With audacity bordering on madness, he brushed the other's hand away to meet the Vampyre's gaze with a cocky smirk. "In either case, you don't want anyone else in this wretched city to be the first to witness such a sight. Or else --" He paused and shrugged. "Well, I don't think they'd be very happy knowing a Vampyre's strolling down their streetsโฆ untended to." The half-elf was terribly aware that he was gambling high stakes, but what else could he do? Hope to outrun a Vampyre? Hope to win a fight against their abilities that were hard to counter even with the magic he knew? He let out a wry chuckle. "Lucky for you I'm good at disposing of bodies. Runs in my line of business."
