He watched Gaster as he was hard at work. He was focused. Driven. Too much so- seeing by the way he had plastered himself to the monitor screen. That’s why he felt he had to intervene. He heard Gaster protest about stopping.
Sans chuckled and shook his head.
“3 pm? g, i think you need to check those glasses of yours. it’s 3 am.”
He walked over to Gaster and tried to wave a hand in front of him to get and keep his attention.
“i know the void is unpredictable, and your work is important, but it can wait. sleep is important too, and right now you need it. so how bout it, huh? catch a little sleep eye, and you’ll feel better in the morning, i bet. all bright eyed and busy tailed and ready for more of... this.”
He gestured to the computer and paperwork.
He knew the work was important. That’s why he agreed to help Gaster with it. It was some sort of timeline machine? Or so he wagered. And since Sans, himself, came from a different timeline, it seemed that the two working on it would make good sense. However, Sans was not as driven as Gaster was.
