Living with Gabban had been an... Adjustment, to put it lightly. After two years of living in the wilderness, cold and hungry, part of him had forgotten what it was like to be Civilized. To wake up, warm and clean, to get dressed in clean clothes that weren't full of holes, to sit and eat and not have to scrounge for food.
Having servants was odd as well. He'd never been in such a position, usually acting as one himself, but almost as soon as he'd entered Gabban's home he'd had humans at his beck and call. They were the ones who'd sheared him (under strict supervision by Gabban, of course), who brought him his food, books and plants when he asked. They never lingered too long, but that was alright. He had Gabban now.
Sleep had been hard the first few nights. Any little sound or creak would wake him, ready to run and hide. It would take hours to get him calm enough to try again, and most nights now he found himself curled up with Gabban, ear pressed against his chest. While the odd gurgling of his insides had unnerved him at first, now they were a comfort.
It was like this he woke now, eyes still heavy with sleep. He curled closer to his warmth, humming softly in protest to the coming dawn. He knew Gabban would have to leave for work soon, and he would be alone until he came home.
