You were the first girl who I told “I love you” to. You meant a lot to me, but you have ruined me. You have turned me into this untrusting person. You lost your virginity to a guy while cheating on me. Being my first love I took you back as you had me hook line and sinker only to find you running away night after night with him. You caused me to have trust issues that have fucked me.
I didn’t really have successful relationships after you. They would all be flings that I would hurt them before they had a chance to hurt me. I was so incredibly scared that I closed people out. I showed them enough of me to have them like me as a person, but I never gave them the whole me. I never allowed myself to be vulnerable after you. If there was conflict I was out the door, moving on.
My marriage suffers from this. I don’t allow myself to be fully vulnerable. Not allowing my wife in when I want to so badly. I have hurt her twice now as you did to me and feel so incredibly horrible for it. The visitor is struck by the pathos and stinging pain of disappointment. There is an uncanny sense of dread and impending doom and yet curiosity and wonder is ever present.
