Karume in Digimon is the same as OC (Rain) in Digimon in terms of story. Devimon is given a sort of Mewtwo tragic backstory from being left alone for so long (impatient little fucker wanted to meet his tamer before the tamers were even really a thing). Karume (Rain) f9nds that they have some kind of immunity to the Black Gears as the Digimon affected by them either ignore her or can't damage her- must to their (and Devimon's) frustration. She eventually gains the (fan-made) crest of Loyalty given how she defends Devimon (mostly in Demidevimon form) from the others (orginal cast- mostly Tai actually). There is a split AU between Devimon knowing what he did after he hatched and not knowing- he feels guilty about it regardless. Both will be written eventually...
