The Queen had a much more dangerous-seeming tone to her announcement than usual. Perhaps it was due to the situation they were in, or the discovers and hallucinations that had been reported over the last week, but she’d had a really uneasy feeling throughout the entire announcement. Maybe she should have expected something scary to happen, because of this, but she couldn’t possibly have prepared herself for what did happen. The chaos that had erupted when chains and cuffs flew forward from the pillars left her in a panic, doing everything in her power to keep with the crowd that was attempting to avoid being caught, while also trying desperately not to be knocked over and trampled on by larger people with their longer, stronger legs.
Once the panic had subsided, she notes those who had managed to get caught, her inky heart sinking at seeing two toons she knew very well.
“Mommy! Beri!”
She quivers as thick inky tears spill from her eyes, fear for her friend and pseudo-mother quickly overtaking all thought. They were struggling, which was a reasonable reaction to being forcibly chained to a pillar, but one that only caused her to worry--were they hurt? Was there any way for her to free them? How long would they be kept up there?
The Queen explains, answering at least one question and vaguely answers a second, but the idea of acting on said suggestion is far too upsetting for the little lamb, especially on top of what had just happened. Trying to at least keep quiet, she holds one hand over her mouth as the other wipes fiercely at her eyes. At least they would be cared for as long as they were up there, from what the Queen said. Still, she wished they could simply be let go, instead.
