As a medium, my goals with Photography are to capture and illustrate the natural world. I don't take photos of others often. At times it can feel weird, a bit invasive. Plus, outside of recreational activities, I'm really not interested in working as a "traditional" photographer. Shoots involving weddings, seniors, couples, and other similar gigs are of no interest to me. Every once in a while, Carran and I will go on a hike and just shoot the shit. I find these hikes to be therapeutic in a way. We discuss a plethora of topics and his insight helps me work through complex ideas. One of my biggest issues lately is with identity. One could say that I wear many hats. Sometimes it can be difficult describing who I am, what I study, or what I do for work. To paraphrase Carran on our last hike, "you don't need a label, there are no rules". I find that my brain will default to routine. My father describes me as a "creature of habit". The interruption of a routine causes me to stress out a bit. I get hung up on the small stuff and productivity halts. Adopting this mentality of "no rules" has been helpful in relieving general anxiety. Moving forward, I hope that applying this principle improves not only my work, but my life too. : : #getoutdoors #outdoorrecreation #mcconnellsmillstatepark #devilsgorge https://www.instagram.com/p/CKCRigWl7kD/?igshid=11s2o2sebdwt
