Something i noticed throughout the Toei Devil anime was Amon would start to use his belt less and less until he'd stop all together. This is more so a bit of headcanon/fanon but I wonder if Amon's constant usage of his belt was the result of constantly being under Zannin's abuse. We don't dwell too much into their respective pasts but we do see that Zannin cares more about hateing Amon even more than his actual mission of causing destruction in the human world. Granted a couple of other demons use certain parts of their body are also used as whips but its Zannin where we see him constantly use his tail to straight up abuse his underlinings by whipping and strangling them.
With the possibility of Toei Amon's darker traits coming from the constant abuse by Zannin, I was reminded of a kinda infamous scene in episode 8 where Amon pretty much just tortures Lyamon. He did do it as he was desperately trying to find a way to save Miki as Lyamon did drain a lot of blood from her but its still kind of surreal to watch. He skips the belt and pretty much uses an actual whip as we also get close up shots of her breast being striken with the whip. Whats most shocking is that Amon literally does nothing like this ever again throughout the show when he comes to fighting other demons or directly trying to save Miki. Its probably the closets that Toei Amon is like his more monstrous mainline counterparts. So I wonder if Amon pretty much tying up Lyamon and then proceeding to constantly whip her is from his own personal experience of having to deal with Zannin's taking out his frustrations on the demon in his younger days.
In episode 10 of the Toei Devilman, Amon and co visit a monster design contest and its a bit funny seeing various kaiju references considering a lot of Toei Devil's DNA came from series like Ultraman. Right off the bat we get references to Verokron as verokronsaurus has a a part of is name. Funny enough he showed up in Ultraman Ace which was the same year as Devilman's debut. There's Red King (though switched around) and King Ghidorah is also name dropped.
There's also "Gigara" who looks a lot like Alien Hipporit who is also from Ace. It's a bit more difficult to say if any of the other monster drawings have direct sources though it's possible that the Seijins/Alien ones have general inspiration from Ultra's own aliens. The Three Legged Giant seems the most different from the others and a possible source of influence is Toho's Frankenstein (and his gargantua spawn) & the Giant from Ultra Q.
Its also funny that this is the same episode where we see Xenon take on a more humanoid look.
