He's feeling more and more comfortable. Learning how and when to place his mids and how to get better pressure at the wall. Recognizing more situations where b4 won't hit grounded getting a better sense about when to go for some other move to hit on the ground.
Also: you can force choke Noctis, it turns out. I had assumed you couldn't, since Kazuya can't heft him by the face. Nice.
(goal: Kaz/AK/Kazumi/DJim/Hei all at Fujin -- one rank to go for DJim, two for Heihachi, and we're there.)

Sajam says, when you sit down to play fighting games, a good routine is this:
- Practice some stuff. A situation you've been thinking about, a combo you're trying to get consistent, moving around well, whatever.
- Play some matches. Notice things, during your matches, that you don't understand. Write them down if you need to.
- After you play some matches, go back to practice mode to find answers to your questions. What didn't you understand? Where did you get blown up?
Concretely, today I was playing some DJim and some Nina. And I found that I did not know how to punish certain situations.
- As DJim, you have a good punish if you block the third/last hit of Paul's demo man. But what if they only do the first two hits? ANSWER: he is -18 if you block that, and there's some pushback but not much, so you should EWGF. Cancans usually doesn't reach so if you're not ready to EWGF, probably b+1,2.
- As Nina, what can you do if you block Bryan's ws1 or his df+2,3 , both of which have pushback? ANSWER: for ws1, f+3 will usually hit unless you're at very tip range. For df+2,3, you get a b+1,4 seemingly every time. So Nina's punish for that is actually quite good.
Alright! Devil Jim up in Blue ranks. I think it’s pretty well demonstrated that we can get characters to Blue. That’s Kazuya, Armor King, Kazumi... and now DJim.
Gonna do Heihachi next, then we’re likely full-time on Kazuya to keep climbing!
I think the thing about DJim that gives me the most difficulty -- and this might sound strange -- is that if you want to end a combo with b+2,3 or b+2,1 (especially the latter) but you drop it, the whiff is so heinous and you’re very likely to get launched by your opponent. So you have to be pretty confident it’s going to hit.
I think I don’t use his df+1 enough. It’s pretty OK at 13f with an extension, but it doesn’t have a big scoopy hitbox like Heihachi or Kazumi’s. Also the extension isn’t a natural combo (but it’s safe).
But his db+2 is just an absurdly good low. It’s quick, it high crushes, it’s plus on hit, not too bad on block (Kazuya can launch it but most characters can’t)... just a good move. And then if you’re feeling yourself you can just hellsweep, which of course launches at most ranges. Laser scraper to keep people from stepping too much.
Devil Jim. Pretty good character. You may have heard once or twice.

I’m like a piñata full of points these past few days with D. Jim :-O
Just in rank freefall. Everybody’s style-on-ing me and it’s honestly depressing.
There’s something really huge I’m missing. I’ve got this great canned 50-50 but I just can’t get people to eat the uf+4 into b+4. Bad spacing or something. Once I understand how to D.Jim I think that’s going to mean that I learned something important.
