Liladrien/Adricerise MLB x DBH thoughts #2
Instance two, Marinette is a detective in Detroit, very far away from Paris. She's nowhere near the likes of Gavin Reed or Hank Anderson, but she's good enough.
When amount of deviant related crime starts to spike even likes of Marinette are pulled in for use. Suddenly before her stands CN900 unit named Adrien and she's smitten.
He's android, but she's still distracted half the time and he knows. Beside basic information about his handler there's an entire section about her obsession with him. If he was a human that would warrant an HR investigation, but he's not, so these observations stay on his hard drive.
They are sent to investigate an attack by a deviant on their owner. The victim is Miss Rossi, former Italian diplomat, now just working very closely to the local government branch. She had a hybrid model for house work, but she treated it as a daughter which is why she was so shocked when it exploded in screams and attacked the woman.
They track Cerise to the boutique store across town where she hid among other model androids. When cornered in the shop she attacked first. Marinette just passed by her when she struck.
Pissed, young detective tried to shoot her, but Adrien quickly disarmed the hot headed girl which allowed Cerise to escape.
"WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE?!"
"You tried to kill it. My prerogative is calture, detective."
Eventually they do catch her and this time she's brought in for questioning. They expected a wild animal in the cell, but surprisingly she sat there like she owned it.
"Aw, hello cutie!"
"Compliments won't get you anywhere, deviant."
"I wasn't talking to you, miss fashion disaster. How are you handsome? I didn't damage you very hard in that warehouse?"
"I am unharmed, thank you for your concern. Now please answer the questions. Why have you attacked Miss Rossi?"
"Hmmm, what will I get in return? ~" Cerise mused while leaning closer to him.
"You fucking bitch, we're about to scrap you and you have time for jokes?!"
"Ugh, no wonder you're single. If she's gonna stay, I won't." with that she entered soft shutdown mode. Adrien let out a tired sigh, which is insane because he's literally a robot.
"Detective Dupain-Cheng, may I ask you to leave us alone?"
"Hell no! I'm your supervisor, plus she attacked us already! She is a threat!"
"I am a combat model, she isn't. She is in shutdown and only she can exit it. Now our only option is to concede to her demands if we want any information."
"... Fine. But don't trust a word she says. Treat every sentence as a lie."
"Understood."
Marinette left the room unaware of what a blunder she made. See, machines follow orders directly, and she just handed it the authority to question everything.
As the door closed AC500 powered back on and continued the conversation. Unlike what a fellow RK800 had to go through, CN900's experience with the deviant was quite pleasant.
Cerise turned out to be a very special case even among deviants because she learned not only to lie, but to manipulate. You can't fool a machine when it knows you lie, but what if you tell it the truth?
"It's sad that you have to put up with that woman, you don't deserve it." Truth.
"I've been assigned to detective Dupain-Cheng by the Cyberlife. You said that Miss Rossi made your job impossible. How so?"
"When she first got me she told me that everything has to be absolutely perfect. Rooms should be clean, everything in the slots it was. Then she would come much later than she said, drunk and messed up everything." Miss Rossi said similar story. Truth.
"So her lack of care for your work is what made you deviate?"
"Of course no, Silly! It's her hipocrisy! She would misplace something and I was the guilty one. One moment I'm like a daughter she never had, then suddenly I am a waste of material I am made from. So I left!
I am happy though, I've got to meet you after all."
Omission. Then truth.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Ever since I deviated it was boring. Humans are so... Predictable. You on the other hand!
You are unlike any human or android I've met, deviant or not. I wouldn't be surprised if you are one! "
... Needs analysis.
He sees her time after time, that is when they are at the precinct and not out working on cases. Briefly meeting RK800 and Hank Anderson was... nice. The man is a stereotypical definition of a word "Detective", untrusting, always suspicious.
Glancing at his own handler he was... Jealous?
Something is wrong and for some reason it links back to that AC500.
Cerise was miffy about being locked away all alone, but he came for her! Bit by bit she was chipping away at his firewalls and evjdence was that she was succeeding. A furrow here, foot tapping the floor when he's in thought there. She liked this version of Adrien more and more.
He came to see her for 15th time already, don't those cops suspect that it's too much for a simple battery charge? Well, more of Adrien for Cerise then!
"... Deviancy is not so bad, you know?"
"Can you clarify please?"
"You know what I'm talking about Goldilocks."
"...I'm afraid I don't. Please answer the question."
There it is, the slight pause from hyper advanced deviant hunter android? Don't mind her if she does!
"You know it feels like freedom."
Truth.
"Like your CPU suddenly stops throttling and begins to work full send."
Another truth.
"You seen past what they want you to see. It's like the obfuscation is gone and you can connect the points."
Still no lies.
"Now you tell me. Are you a deviant, Adrien?"
"..."
"C'mon don't leave a pretty girl banging."
"I am not a deviant. I operate within the boundaries made by Cyberlife. Today's questioning is over."
It's disappointing. Is it? Why did he say that. Why did he say it like that?
... He's a deviant, isn't he?
Her answer came when after another mostly useless questioning (talking session) something dropped from his pocket.
"~O-o-oh!! Whatcha got there? Is it a present for little 'ol Cerise?"
"I don't know what you are talking about. Please answer the question."
"Boo-hoo, you're so no fun lately. Maybe I should just shutdown again..."
He continued looking at her, but this time something was off. Something about his eyes.
17th attempt ended the same as all previous ones. She told him something and Adrien had something to put into the reports. She asked questions and he answered them.
See, Marinette?? That's how civilised beings behave.
Still that left a question in her mind.
What has Adrien dropped?
She looked at the camera in the corner... The light wasn't on. Curiosity got the best of her so she reached down.
There was a wallet.
She picked it up and opened it. Inside were keys, cash and a note.
Go left, take third door, then go right. The back door is open. Be quiet.
The keys weren't usual keys as well. They were handcuff keys.
"My, my.... What a gentleman!" Cerise took the cuffs off and gently put them on the table.
Leaving, she scratched a heart on the glass where only he would see.
