can not mimic the powers of others, even when shapeshifted to look/sound like a specific person (unless the 'power' is something like wings and flight bc he can temporarily give himself wings. He can't give himself super strength or telenkinisis or anything like crazy like that tho)

can not change what genitalia he has in the downstairs region, can temporarily give himself breasts, however

he usually has to see who he's turning into at least once before shifting, pictures are ok but without a video or live reference he has to guess what the person he's shifting into sounds like

can easily shift into humanoid creatures a foot taller or shorter than him. creatures who are a 1.5ft or greater shorter/taller than him take a lot of concentration/energy to shift into and he can not hold such drastic forms for long without taking at least three one hour breaks per day

can hold a shapeshifted form for short naps, can not hold a shapeshifted form for overnight sleep/8 hours of sleep

his clothes temporarily change with him when he shifts so he can better fit the part

he can temporarily get rid of his own scars and freckles but he has to consciously make the choice to hide/change such details

the only non-humanoid forms he can shift into are his gun forms in verses that have guns, for verses where guns aren't a thing yet he can turn into a throwing axe

PJ loves animals but his fave animal is the horse

His primary horse is his mare, Peaches. Who is a red roan/tennesse walker mixed with a thoroughbred. She's got an all white face and white socks. He's had her the longest and she's 'bulletproof' aka doesn't scare easy. She won't go running unless she injured or unless PJ tells her to. Easily returns to him when whistled to/called, doesn't wander far and overall super reliable.

PJ's second horse is a slower horse that has higher stamina. That horse is a gelding named Whiskey. Whiskey can be ridden but doesn't like it and prefers to be used as a pack horse/carry a lot of supplies. He's a brown morgan horse. Whiskey is pretty steady/calm but tends to spook or flee during intense fights with lots of loud sounds. He is less likely to flee if he's near Peaches when a fight breaks out. PJ usually leaves him at camp in the company of his third horse.

Patchwork Jack's third and final horse is a dapple gray pinto/missouri fox trotter named Potato, although he's most commonly called 'Tater by PJ. Due to being abused by his previous owner Tater is extremely nervous/shy around new people. PJ is working to get him feeling safer and more confident. Since Peaches is getting older he's hoping to eventually make 'Tater his primary/riding horse. Tater is faster than both Peaches and Whiskey. He has the best stamina out of all the horses as well. As for his strength, when paired with Whiskey, he can help pull a small wagon if need be. Whisky tends to be braver when around Tater. PJ typically has Tater help Whiskey transport camp supplies and keep Whiskey company back at camp. Whiskey is a gelding and is the youngest out of all the horses.

All of PJ's horses are incredibly smart and would not let someone with bad vibes ride them

PJ's horses are super loyal and would not side with your character over PJ during a fight/conflict

the name 'patchwork jack' is sorta a reference to him only having pieces or patches of memories and him trying to 'patch' himself together

it's also connected to the fact he hates clothes shopping, rotates through the same like 3 outfits and has worn his clothes down so bad that they're covered in patches

he's got claw marks from the devil himself on his face, a large scar on his chest from when the devil was so mad at him he almost (but not quite) ripped his heart out, and some claw marks on his hips

the claw marks on hips hips are actually from when he had an on/off again relationship with a werewolf

he can temporarily hide his scars and freckles using his shapeshifting but most of the time he leaves his scars bc he doesn't give a fuck about his scars

he gets horrible rashes and muscle aches if he steps into a church or other 'holy' places thanks to his ties with the devil

his ability to heal others comes at his own expense and additional scars on his body are from him using his powers to heal other people's wounds, resulting in a matching scar being left on his body

his shapeshifting allows him to both mimic other people's appearances and their voices

he can't use shapeshifting to change private parts, although he's had magical top surgery so he's got top surgery scars

would never have biological children until the curse is broken, likely wouldn't adopt either just to play it safe

considers himself both a trans man and nonbinary person, is a lesbian ally but would not be comfortable dating someone who identifies as a lesbian because he doesn't consider himself femme in any way

amazing survival and hunting skills, could become a recluse if he wanted to

ambidextrous and slowly getting good at using his tail to do basic things such as hold a small item
