#DEV1LGUN - VERSE PAGE
General Fantasy/Wild West (Main) - see backstory in his about post
Fantasy/DnD (similar to his main but with fewer wild west themes) - Patchwork Jack is a complex multiclass of warlock/fighter/rogue/ranger. He has the most levels in the last three since he was born into an unwanted pact, as detailed in his main backstory (see about tab of my pinned). His ancestors made a deal with the devil, making him a fiend based warlock. Despite trying to rebel against his patron and break the pact it's easier said than done. He has committed a lot of crimes such as armed robbery, identity theft, and has impersonated law enforcement. Those who fear him have branded him the 'Face Stealer' due to his shapeshifting abilities and his criminal record. In this verse PJ is striving to redeem himself in the eyes of the public, attempt to find a sense of self (which is easier said than done when you have no 'true' face) and trying to gain freedom by breaking his inter-generational pact once in for all. He works as a jack of all trades for hire in this verse. If you'd like to have a gun-less dnd verse interaction with him we can pretend he fights with duel throwing axes instead of guns.
DC/Marvel/Superhero - Similar to his main backstory/about but in the case of DC Comics his ancestors made a deal with Neron. He experiences a lot of the same stressors and limitations as his main verse, although in this verse he's killed more people since Neron is forcing him to collect souls for him. He's eventually tasked with killing the members of Justice League Dark. However over time JL Dark earns his trust and manages to find a way to weaken Neron's hold on Patchwork Jack just enough that he is able to conceal his presence from Neron and rebel against him a bit more safely. He's basically a demon cursed human who often looks like a demon and a member of JL Dark in this verse.
As for Marvel... His backstory is a very similar to Johnny Blaze's. Cursed by and forced to work for a demon lord, Patchwork Jack specifically works for Chthon, the lord of chaos. His abilities remain similar to his main verse/about page. He also experiences slowed aging in this verse and has been alive since the time of actual cowboys.
General Scifi - Long ago one of PJ's ancestors kidnapped and experimented on by aliens during an inter-planetary war. The aliens' goal was to turn the captured humans into sleeper agents that could be forced/mind controlled into killing other human soldiers. The mind control and enhanced strength/agility experimentation worked on the human prisoners and PJ's ancestor was deemed a 'traitor to humanity' and exiled from Earth (and any planet under control of humans) after killing dozens of human soldiers. Although PJ's ancestor eventually managed to find a way to resist the mind control, resisting the mind control resulted in him randomly and frequently shifting forms and also resulted in all of his ancestors experiencing the same uncontrollably shapeshifting powers. Considered a weird and dangerous anomy by most of the universe PJ works as an intergalactic gun for hire.
General Modern - PJ is a heavily scared drifter that lives out of a small camper. He works as a jack of all trades for hire, doing jobs such as handyman work and various farm work. Whether is curse is literal or metaphorical depends on whether or not my writing partner is interested in a supernatural vibe. If interested in a supernatural vibe PJ is also running/hiding from supernatural hunters, although he may temporarily align himself with a hunter if doing so gives him a chance to kill the devil once in for all.
FANDOM ADJACENT:
Red Dead Redemption - Patchwork Jack is a lone, mysterious outlaw who works as a jack of all trades for hire. Whether his curse/deal with the devil remains literal depends on if my writing partner is interested in writing a Red Dead Redemption verse with supernatural vibes or not. In versions where his curse is more metaphorical his scars are from his family getting attacked by wolves, leaving his mother dead and him nearly dead. His cowardly father fled during the attack. Additionally if you chose a less supernatural vibe he is talented at costume changes and other disguises such as make up, changing his gait, voice acting, etc. Additionally, in this verse, he was briefly in a small gang although he was forced to flee and forced into solitude after the Pinkertons killed everyone in the gang except him (he nearly bled to death but was saved by a local farmer). Your character has a chance to attempt to discern his identity and turn him in for a bounty or to become friends with him.
Castlevania - Similar to his main verse but instead his family made a deal with and was cursed by a powerful vampire lord. His curse/bind to the vampire lord has him experiencing slowed aging as well. His lord wants to take over and rule all vampires post the fall of Dracula and attempts to force PJ to help him with this goal. However after meeting powerful allies such as Alucard, Trevor, and Sypha he rebels against his master and fight to protect humanity. His mission to protect humanity leads to him getting punished by his master and losing control of his shifts, resulting in him frequently turning into his more demonic appearance at random times/random intervals. His mission to protect humanity continues into the second season of the show : D
BG3 - Similar to his main verse but it is specifically Mephistopheles, Raphael's father, that Patchwork Jack and his family was cursed by. Mephistopheles sends Patchwork Jack to prevent the party from helping Raphael gain the Crown of Karsus. Mephistopheles understands the pros and many cons of the Crown of Karsus and will have PJ fight anyone who stops Mystra from getting the Crown of Karsus since she is the only being who has enough power and control to safely use the item. Mephistopheles will also send Patchwork Jack to try to stop the party from aligning themselves with the Absolute since the Absolute steals souls from him and the rise of the Absolute threatens his power/rule of hell. Even if the party allies itself with Patchwork Jack, at the end of the game PJ will be forced to return to the Nine Hells and live under the thumb of Mephistopheles unless the party finds a safe way to break his pact.
Star Wars - Jack's abilities are the result of his family members getting repeatedly kidnapped by and experimented on by Sith and other powerful and dangerous dark force users. PJ works as a bounty hunter/hired gun and allies himself with anyone willing to fight a Sith, especially the Sith woman who is trying to recapture him so she can continue her sinister experiments on him.
