PARISA DORVAL // 36 , senator , visionaries .
“the real crime here is that blouse. did you get dressed in the dark?”
Has your character ever left their home planet? When? If not, do they want to? What (if anything) do they like about their current planet? What (if anything) do they hate?
at a young age parisa left ponos for the first time -- a trip with her father to sennt for business. a trip that, in the grand scheme of things, was a drop in the hat for parisa. no big deal. nothing that made any difference because -- for a family that had money -- it became one of many, an occurrence that was as common or as infrequent as her parents wanted it to be.
it wasn’t until parisa began her political career that she left her home planet in a more permanent fashion. a change that parisa found refreshing, one that was necessary, but one that wasn’t done because she disliked where she came from. on the contrary, parisa loved her home. while she knew that ponos (as well as the royal family -- of which she was vaguely apart of -- itself) was an example of what was wrong with the political system, she also couldn’t deny that she loved the culture and the people. she wouldn’t ignore what needed to be changed (she’d grow to make a career out of it after all), but she also wouldn’t pretend the good didn’t exist either.
What does your character think about the state of politics in the galaxy right now?
parisa is very vocal that that system needs to change. that the divide is too large and something needs to be done to close it. the old methods no longer work and something needs to be done and it needs to be done now. she has ideas (she has a lot of them) and she’ll tell whoever asks (and whoever doesn’t ask) what they are.
she’s very aware that there are those who disagree with her (and others that think poorly of her for those opinions particularly given her own background) but, quite frankly, parisa doesn’t care. at all. in fact she takes a certain amount of satisfaction getting those reactions -- it’s almost a sport for her.
What does your character like most and least about themselves?
to heard parisa tell it, it would seem as though she loves everything about herself and that she has no faults to speak of. a side effect of the confidence that she projects (or arrogance as some would call it) though still not entirely the truth.
parisa does like that she has the ability to speak her mind (something she claims is due to not caring -- not entirely true however) and that she’s able to stick by her morals. while she can’t claim that her morals are necessarily the right ones she does stick by them, which she believes has to count for something.
on the other hand parisa doesn’t like her own inability to let others get too close. that she has a fear of someone seeing who she really is and leaving what they do (or worse wanting to change what they find). she also hates that she lacks the ability to deal with her own personal problems head on. the problems of others? perfectly fine. political issues? absolutely, toss them at her. her own? no, hand her a bottle of wine or two first and then maybe she’ll try to sort it out in the morning.
