Harringrove omegaverse scents, but theyāre from a happy time in their childhood. (Thank you @monsterpegger001 for the inspo for this and for Billyās scent!!š)
Omega!Billy; vanilla cupcakes and burnt sugar
Itās a scent that reminds him of California. Their too tiny home, and too tiny kitchen. Heās 6 and watching as his mom pours dry ingredients into a mixing bowl. Whisk in hand he scrunches his toes in excitement, curling them against the seat of the chair heās stood on. Mom smiles down at him, her hair half hiding the bruise fading on her cheek, as she reaches for the eggs. She cracks them against the counter, and plops the insides into the bowl. She tells him how heās such a big boy after he needs her help whisking only twice. They dance in the kitchen to Fleetwood Mac while the cupcakes cook, and even the ever looming threat of Neilās eventual return canāt wipe the smiles off either of their faces. The cupcakes are a little too golden brown when theyāre removed from the oven, but mom promises that the sweetness of the icing will balance it all out in the end. And mom says it, so it must be true. Sheās right in the end of course. A little sweetness goes a long way, but itāll be several years until he really understands the sentiment in itās entirety.
Alpha!Steve; smokey whiskey with a touch of honey
Heās 7 and moms gone, on one of her weekend shopping trips in Indianapolis, leaving Steve and his dad alone. Which means his dad has invited some work friends over, and Steveās been told 5 times already that he better be on his best behavior. But itās not his fault that he just canāt sit still sometimes, and he canāt help it if his eyes wander in the middle of a conversation, it just happens without him knowing. Theyāre retiring to dads office to smoke cigars, a place Steve is under strict instruction that heās not allowed to enter at any time, when one of dads friends asks Steve to refill his drink. Steveās eyes flash to dad in silent question, and he nods. Steve spends whole evening refilling whiskey drinks for dad and his friends. Through their cloud of smoke and lowered inhibitions, all the men laugh and joke together and clap Steve on the back, complimenting him for keeping their glasses topped off. Dad even says Steve might have some use after all! Steve does such a good job making sure that everyoneās drinks stay full that dad doesnāt even get too mad when he realizes heās nearly out of whiskey the next morning as heās pouring it and some honey into a cup of tea. Dad, hungover and grumbling, says sometimes you need the sugar in the honey to cut the bitterness. Steve doesnāt really understand what that means and forgets about it entirely, until a decade later, but he never forgets it again.
