Detailed below are some details on future characters that may appear. They currently do not have art to accompany them.

First is Yukari Matoi (no relation to Ryuuko Matoi): An average-looking tomboyish girl with fierce, golden eyes. Very single-minded and stubborn. Pessimistic and spiteful due to her past circumstance, and has very few friends. A runaway who became a Magi in order to protect her best friend. She’s too hostile and attacks anyone who rubs her the wrong way. Magical Element: Curses Magical Weapon: A black umbrella that fires magical projectiles and black clouds of curse smoke. Magical Power: The ability to use the black curse smoke to apply various terrible curses upon any who come into contact with it. Magical Outfit: It’s basically a typical witch outfit with the pointy hat and everything, but also goth.

Second is Kana Hasegawa: A lazy, average-looking girl who’s a little on the pudgy side due to being waited on, a lot. A prodigy of robotics who often builds helpers to do mundane tasks like cleaning. She spent her entire life around robotics, and sees them more as a different form of person than tools to be used. Despite being very nice, she has a particular interest in military tech and weaponry. Has gone as far as to create thankfully inoperable “super”weapons and a highly intelligent android named AN-A (Artificial Neurotype Alpha). She is president of the robotics club in Osore Middle School. Magical Element: Electronics/Machines Magical Weapon: A hybrid between rifle and crossbow with a very steampunk aesthetic. It is crank-loaded, but very potent. Magical Power: The ability to hijack and control via psychic power any nearby machines. Magical Outfit: Another steampunk design. A coat with tails and white tank-top, lots of brown and gold, and puffy shorts. Gives off a mechanic vibe.

There has been a distinct lack of main characters in the concept art for this project, so far. This is because they are currently being redesigned in multiple ways. One in particular (Haruna Saitou) will receive a full costume redesign and will need to be redrawn. Therefore, her old design will only be posted as a comparison once the new one is complete.

Fue Shakuhachi may potentially undergo a new costume redesign if suitable, but also simply has no real concept art. The only existing art is personally embarrassing and not representative of author intent, so it will not be officially posted here.

What we are currently working on: 1.) Designing a logo for this blog page. 2.) Finalizing the last couple chapters of the draft that have been written. 3.) The two previously mentioned redesigns.

Other projects may cause later return dates. Expect all three goals to be done within the next 30 days at most.

Haruna’s Inferno Walk

A candidate for the image to be used in chapter 1 of Deus Ex Magicae. An excerpt:

Concept art for Tatsuko Matsura, the Magi who treasures combat.

A classmate of Fue and Haruna, 14 years old and somewhat short at 5’2”. Fairly attractive with a nice figure and bust, complimented by her pale blonde hair and hazel eyes. She too is a Magi and had contracted just a month ago. Thus, she is inexperienced but very excited. She has a small problem with competition and will usually fight other Magi on sight out of a friendly but misunderstood compulsion towards trial by fire. She is not actually a bad person, just excitable and violent. Deeper, she is actually an incredibly caring person who treasures the people she calls friends, not just for the rivalry but for the fact that it emotionally supports her. She sees her only real value and purpose in life as being a warrior, ever chasing the next greatest challenge and slamming into it until it breaks. That said, she is not actually furious, just highly motivated. She won’t shy away from emotional turmoil and won’t usually turn down help, but has odd ways of coping and expressing. What to most might elicit a hug she will instead meet with a sword butt to the stomach. She makes sure not to hit people she likes in the face or groin, as she considers those hateful strikes. An overall strange girl. She also has a fear of flying.

Element: Determination

Magical Weapon: Heartrend: A fanciful, thin, and sleek ultra-greatsword that is longer than her and obviously built for stabbing more than hacking and smashing. It resembles the Astora Greatsword from Dark Souls 3.

Magical Power: Sheer Force of Will. She can sustain impossibly horrible injuries and keep going. Even when her resolve is depleted, she can stay in her magical girl form and fight despite the potential for being mortally wounded and killed. The more stubborn and determined she is, the more punishment she can take.

Concept art of Tetsu Ametsuchi, the Magi who surmounts all odds.

Tetsu is one of the very few homeless girls in her school. She doesn’t try to keep up appearances as she knows it’s just going to get ruined by the rain each time. Thus, she tends to look very dirty; her uniform is rarely dry and her brown hair is constantly ragged. To cut down on maintenance, she cuts it with scissors a lot and has fairly short hair. Has had to shave it bald several times, and because of that developed a bond to a black beret that kept her head warm in those times. Stands at about 5'1”. Despite being only 13, she is extremely strong-willed and mature, often getting along with adults more than her peers. However, most adults are so inclined to help her that they tend to interfere in her life overall. She has no parents; they were killed when she was 7. She completely refuses to be fostered and prefers to live on her own even if it means remaining homeless. One would assume the harsh life would make her bitter, but she is really one of the most hopeful and personally happy people you could meet. She seems to have everything she really wants, and the rest is just superficial or mandatory. Her immense hope also causes her to have an insatiable drive, an insurmountable resolve that nothing has toppled yet.

Element: Hope

Magical Weapon: Great-bar: A long wooden Kanabo with wicked metal spikes and hooks sticking through it. It’s as big as she is.

Concept art of Agasa Kagiyama, the Magi who transcends humanity.

The extremely strange type of girl. She is often dozing off into her own world and not listening to others. When she comes to and decides to speak, she often either speaks in a completely unknown language by itself or in some cryptic nonsense. She is very philosophical and mature for her age, which is 14. She is short at only 4’11” and has extremely dark, long hair. She has sparkly skin. Also is completely blind, as one would guess from noticing her glazed over eyes. Aside from that, she has a very cute appearance like that of a child. Her arm is constantly wrapped up in bandages or otherwise covered up in order to hide the fact that it’s actually invisible. These anomalies all come from the fact that that she claims to be able to comprehend and manipulate higher dimensions. With her blindness, she says that she was able to see into different realities. This is actually true to an extent, as when she became a magical girl she gained the ability to truly reach into these parallel universes and higher dimensions. She believes in the multiverse, the existence of 13 dimensions of reality, higher gods that embody concepts, numerology/astrology, and other things that make her look like a complete lunatic that somehow sounds intelligent. In fact, she is actually a genius at math and is rumored to be beyond university level in that capability. She is somehow capable of writing to some degree even if she can’t see, but she considers the blindness a blessing.

Element: Transdimensionalism.

Magical Weapon: A pair of magical jeweled gloves that can summon forth eldritch power.

A very calm and deliberate type. Not quite refined, just very laid back and practiced due to her interest in ballet. She keeps to herself a lot and doesn’t have many friends, but would be a very dedicated one if befriended. Genuinely nice for the most part, but can be cold. She is a second year, 14 years old, 5’4”, and very thin. Almost lithe, in fact. Has a somewhat mature appearance, blue-ish eyes, and bright-white hair that magically feels cold to the touch and radiates a frosty mist. It’s naturally quite long, but she keeps it tied up in a bun most of the time. Her body looks fragile, but is actually quite strong unlike her personality. She is actually very emotionally fragile and easy to upset. One would think that ballet would be too much for her in that regard, but she practices it as a hobby by herself instead of with a teacher. She absolutely adores the cold and winter even though she can’t stay too long in it. She finds it comforting, and believes that being in the snow is like being hugged by the sky. She also is decent enough at ice-skating and will spend many winter days just flying around on the ice. She is most definitely a cryophiliac. Gets depressed during the summer and spring, excited during fall, and is very happy in the winter but disappointed if there is no snow. She has used almost every Oblivion Fragment she has to make winter just a little bit longer and more beautiful.

Element: Cold

Magical Weapon: Pluto and Charon: Dual wield ice scimitars which can be assembled from thin air and created ad nauseum.
