I drape my tail over my friend, Destwuction, to help her sleep.
My tail is pretty skinny, I know, but wildies and domestic rats communicate in very different ways, so I’m doing my best to show her I love her.

This week - Krusa gets a special mention after a long life full of love, and Destwuction also gets a special mention for stealing treats FROM HER SISTER'S MOUTH
She offers you her hand, will you accept?
This week- Rosita opened up a little and Destwuction is always watching... waiting...
Parker is my good friend, on Friday- I watched as she went to sniff a candle so now she has these half length whiskers on one side of her face. They will grow back though! And she wasn’t hurt at all thankfully.

Froggy that can’t be good for your spine.
Fact! Froggy has a lot of disfunction in her sacro-iliac joints (lower spine/sacrum), and so do I, that is why Froggy and I are friends.
Also Destwuction recently enjoyed wildie cuddles from AudreyII so this is sad to hear. Thoughts and prayers AudreyII.
The white flashed are AudreyII’s new domestic friend Deswuction.
I too, am AudreyII’s new friend and I couldn’t be more chuffed about it.
She’s a little wildie (Rattus rattus) girl who lives with her sister and the two domestic baby girls named Def and Destwuction.
Disclaimer: It takes a lot of expertise and time to hand rear orphaned Rr’s, and it’s a gamble whether or not they’ll be able to have their social needs met with domestic Rn’s, and vice versa. You shouldn’t keep them alone and they have a chance of attacking/ killing Rattus norvegicus (domestics) as well as eachother.
If they’re terrified by life you may have to have them humanely euthanised, also have to be committed to 4 years of ownership, as you can’t just save babies and then release them as it’s illegal and they will die pretty much within the day too.
Species identification is required by a wildlife specialist if you have orphaned pinkies, and euthanasia is often the best option.
How did you get your hands on a Rr? What kind of situation was the poor thing in that she was so underdeveloped?
She looks to be doing fantastically, though – I'm thrilled she found her way to you and has adjusted to that sweet sweet domestic life!
Hi! In Queensland its actually unfortunately easy to stumble across baby Rr’s. The difficult thing is that they’re an invasive species, and illegal to re release. Even if they were rereleased, they would be rejected and attacked by local wildies, and wouldn’t have the skills to survive. It’s a very real urge to help animals though, especially baby animals, so it’s difficult that finding wildies puts you in such a tough spot. You can either take them to be identified and then if they’re Rr’s they will put them to sleep, which is a very valid option con sidering the destructive nature to native wildlife, or you can commit to attempting to house them. They require feeding every few hours, and frequent toileting, and then there is the matter of their social needs. They usually benefit from company, but may be too scared to live with other rats and be too sad alone- again making humane euthanasia a continuous consideration. The night attack or kill other rats, or get attacked by a nursing mother, or just end up miserable and scared of everything. It’s a complex situation as you can see!
So AudreyII and PacMan were given to Rachie by some kids, who were known to rach personally thus the exception to our usual domestic-only policy. They had been left without food for a very nearly fatal stretch of time, and then then went on to earn their names by YELLING and CRYING for food all the time. They’re looking great now, they love their friends Deaf and Destwuction and enjoy running opposite directions on the wheel to going absolutely nowhere. Love em
