1 am where i am right now,,,, thinking about how nothing will ever be the same again we can't go back to a time where someone didn't pull a trigger on the democratically elected vp's head
i grew up being told that my generation is so lucky for growing up in democracy, never having experienced a coup or military regime like my parents and grandparents, where political violence was a common thing, where you could get tortured and killed for thinking a certain way
the return to democracy in 1983 was so hard earned, so much blood spilled, an entire country decided that enough was enough and there was a consensus not to ever let that happen again. to this day we're still identifying the bones of the disappeared, and we're still looking for their children. we have daily reminders of the horrors of that era. and yet.
on thursday that consensus was irretrievably broken, and it takes, once again the whole of society's efforts to heal and fix it, but i'm not seeing neither the willingness nor the effort, and that's terrifying.
