[Pokemon] Weather Trio
The awakening of either Groudon, Kyogre, or both constitutes an apocalyptic event.
Even in their normal forms.
Even Pokemon that live in the water are harmed by Primal Kyogre’s awakening, as shown in Pokemon Generations.
Meanwhile, Primal Groudon’s awakening very well could have been the end of all life in the Pokemon world.
In the original Japanese version of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Primordial Sea’s name translates to “Sea of the Beginning” while the name of Desolate Land translates to “Land of the End”, further hammering home that Primal Groudon’s awakening is the worst possible outcome.
At least, that’s my opinion. I’d rather deal with Kyogre than Groudon because while both could be considered cosmic horrors that are very capable of destroying the world, at least there would still be life if Kyogre got its way, something its type matchup against Groudon would pretty much ensure.
Primal Groudon becoming Ground/Fire makes its Grass matchup neutral rather than disadvantageous but gives it a double weakness to Water.
In battle, Desolate Land is the only reason Primal Groudon can be on equal footing with Kyogre like the legends say. If Primal Kyogre switches in after Primal Groudon enters the battle, then Primordial Sea will override Desolate Land and Groudon will get owned.
